This style of light doesn't really appear in animation anymore. You know it when you see it -- it's bright, hot and almost dangerous.

Our new issue explores the tricks behind it, and how one artist has revived the look for the digital age: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/dangerous-...

Looking to get a list of 2D game-capable artists going for a project. Not contracting yet, just a list.

Can you do stuff like the attached (frame animation as needed, nice layers for objects etc.)

Email paris AT secretlab.games with subject "2D Artist"!

Help me make a dream project: a documentary film (on Blu-ray) about the SCUMM engine and the incredibly-imaginative, brilliant LucasArts games that redefined the adventure genre. It'll feature designers Ron Gilbert and David Fox, artist Mark Ferrari, and many many more, but only with your help.
A short message from me about the documentary, why I want to make it, and how you can help it get made.

I guess this will do.
Time to get modding I guess and with enough community support this will eclipse fortnite.

I will get to work on an A24 themed season to kick things off.
Unreal Tournament 2004 is now available for free.

...well, I mean, you probably could've grabbed a GOG offline installer out the back of a truck earlier, but NOW it's Official/Legally Free and has the in-development community patch packed in for ongoing support. www.oldunreal.com/downloads/ut...

Hey gang! Are there any Melbourne/Victoria-based 3D modellers looking for short contract work right now? Summerfall is currently on the lookout for contractors to do hard-surface environment work for a new prototype, like furniture and all that. 🔨🪑

Send through portfolios! 🙂 Cheers!

Really enjoyed playing through the demo for Vholume, new game by one of the Straftat/Babbdi devs and featuring music by 1000 Eyes (Signalis composer).

In love with the architecture, the hidden little snapshots of lives lived in an impossible space.

Just settling in to watch some ski jumpers at the winter olympics.
a bunch of cartoon characters are flying in the air
Alt: Pom Poko (1994) animated film clip featuring a bunch of Tanuki (Racoon Dogs) gliding through the air with their giant scrotums stretched out like gliders before they swing down as giant weights under them as they fall to the ground.

the idea: DSVs always have to compromise between optimized aquadynamics for sinking (more time spent at depth) or aquadynamics optimized for horizontal traversal (able to cover longer distances at depth)

The DSV Nekton can rotate about its pressure hull so that it can have the best of both worlds

Did a 30min warm DOWN after work and messed around with using an image to color vertices, this time for a Skybox.

I must reference the Homeworld 2 tool for doing this, as they have much better results, but this is neat.

Hey - if you're a game developer who for some reason happens to have access to Google's Project Genie, we would really love to hear your thoughts.

If you're a gamedev who doesn't have access but has strong thoughts to share regardless, please also feel free to get in touch. Email or DM me!
Google has released Project Genie, an AI tool that generates characters and explorable environments.

Videos of Genie outputs using licensed characters have since been subject to takedowns. Stock prices for some game companies have also dropped, though one analyst said the reaction was "overblown."
Google's 'Project Genie' World Generator Sparks Copyright and Investment Concerns
Project Genie is an "experimental research prototype" that lets users generate characters and explore worlds to move around.
