lowkey it's very cool that godot lets you mess with transform matrices right from inspector

it helps a lot to have an intuitive understanding of how they work in gamedev especially when making shaders

Best thing about godot is that even if something sucks it's never GG. There are lowlevel apis for everything and you can always change the source code

You may not at the time have the skills or resources to do that, but the fact that no problem is unsolvable makes all the difference in the long run

stress test 200k grass particles in godot. everything is on gpu and I want to try spawning grass around player on gpu too

I was todays years old when I learned that in godot if you make a category with a name that has a matching editor icon the inspector will use that icon for the category

most of the time when I get stuck on something not working when programming it's not because of bugs but because of some stupid ass shit like I forgot to reload an addon or I was testing a wrong git branch 😂

trying to draw file dependency graphs in godot to be able to see what's referencing what. double clicking nodes redraws graph from them, allowing to navigate around the project

Boring janitorial work but unavoidable

Made dependency viewer show arrows for out of folder textures (will turn pink if blend file is moved), icons for packed ones, a list of unpacked ones on disk that arent used by this blend anymore

All needed to work with a lot of materials, otherwise chaos
