This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.
China’s CO2 emissions have been flat or falling for past 18 months, analysis finds
World’s biggest polluter on track to hit peak emissions target early but miss goal for cutting carbon intensity

The Best Bond Film engaged directly with this.

I am, of course, referring to Casino Royale. No, not the one with the homoerotic CBT.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

funny Star Trek thing: they cast Brent Spiner as Commander Serious in 1985, then immediately realized that Brent Spiner is a certified S-tier Weird Freak Guy actor, and have spent the past 40 years casting him as a variety of Weird Freak Guys who just happen to look identical to Commander Serious

“Negotiating your own insurance” will result in everyone getting the dirt-cheapest junk plan which covers virtually nothing, because most people are terrible at risk assessment.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

I was counting "things he can't do" and "things that are blatantly illegal" and ran out of fingers.
Air traffic controllers work under impossible pressure every day. The President couldn’t do their job for five minutes, yet he’s lecturing them like they’re the problem.

the Rosetta Stone of dem politics is the 2006 senate primary which incumbent Joe Lieberman lost in part for making out with George Bush

He ran anyway, won with GOP support, dems let him keep his seniority, chairmanships and perks & he rewarded them by obstructing the ACA & killing the public option
An important question you cannot skip over in pursuit of the Primary Them All solution is: how likely is it that defeating entitled narcissists in a primary will actually stop them from running?

Adam Carolla’s big closer for his live show used to a be a believe in yourself pep talk with a slideshow about how he went from making $0 per year in the mid nineties to over $2,000,000 by 2000. He lost his retirement savings in the divorce but kept his Lamborghini collection; he is doing just fine.

Trump’s pardon attorney Ed Martin claims Trump is pardoning his Georgia co-defendants and other “alternate electors.”

Note: Trump’s Georgia co-defendants are charged under state law. The president can’t pardon people for state crimes.

Here's the bottom line about Sliwa:

Two decades ago he was a fringe lunatic Republican.

These days he's still a fringe lunatic, in everything but politics. His political opinions are left of the Republican party.

He has not changed his political opinions in two decades.

mamdani is going to OVERTHROW sardaukar law. the age of House Cuorrino has come to an end. God created the G train to train the faithful.
mamdani is gonna implement shandalar law. if you want to add new cards to your deck, you have to wander the map and look for random wizard duels
Mamdani gonna implement Shaaloani law. All disputes settled via shootout duels using non-lethal rounds with all the authenticity of a spaghetti western directed by Japanese anime enthusiasts.

(This is a timely Final Fantasy XIV reference)

Mamdani embodies a pro-Palestinian politics that truly distinguishes between the state of Israel and the Jewish people, and truly takes antisemitism seriously as its own problem. That makes him a threat to those who want to absolutely conflate antisemitism and anti-Zionism, whether the ADL or WoL.
The pro-Palestine group Within Our Lifetime has already decided that Zohran Mamdani has sold out the pro-Palestine cause... by condemning swastikas drawn on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn. forward.com/culture/7822...
Mamdani's first statement on antisemitism as mayor-elect got some weird pushback
After someone spraypainted a swastika on a yeshiva, Zohran Mamdani condemned antisemitism. Somehow, this generated conspiracy theories.

People forget that being Mayor of NYC is one of the most bonkers jobs in the world. You're running to have enormous barely-checked power over eight million people who are notorious haters and will never give you a moment's peace.

Only an absolute freak would want it and nothing competes.
One thing that researching this really drove home is that NYC mayors have always been weird, weird guys.

Do I have to hand it to Dr. Oz? Like, maybe?

Virtue ethics! It doesn't make Oz a good person overall, but he genuinely behaved admirably in this instance, and he did so because it had been so inculcated in him that that's what he's supposed to do that he did it without thinking.
Dr. Oz's instincts as a doctor made him immediately go to the guy's assistance. RFK's instincts as a drug-addicted failson made him immediately run away
