The past couple days have made it clear that arresting and prosecuting Johnathan Ross isn’t just the right thing to do, it is necessary to prevent future violence by ICE who have interpreted the situation as “we can do that to whoever we want”
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

The tragic death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year old mother fatally shot by ICE, shows that ICE can’t be reformed and must be abolished.

I’ll be introducing the Abolish ICE Act as a step toward justice, accountability, and humanity in our immigration policy.

Time to melt ICE.

I sincerely, not-jokingly believe it's worth keeping track of this guy because I am 100% convinced he will be an absolute political menace in the very near future and it'll be important to not play around with him when we get to that point.
There just can't be anyone in sports media who hates women more than Stephen A Smith man

Man I really underestimated how bad it’s gotta feel to get verbally abused through a bullhorn by someone with a Minnesota accent
This morning in Minneapolis, an ICE vehicle got stuck on an icy hill in a residential neighborhood. Agents had to push the vehicles out, some almost slipping in the ice themselves.

Rest in power to Keith Porter who was murdered by an ICE agent in Los Angeles.

It’s terrible that his name is just now being circulated, but now that it is, continue to say his name.
Advocates want legal action after man shot and killed by off-duty ICE agent in Northridge
Advocates argue that the off-duty ICE agent wasn't trained for the situation and should have called police and waited for them to arrive.

A lot of people seem to think that the only utility from AI comes when you can remove humans entirely. Not only does that ignore how people actually use AI, it compels a very narrow and base view of how humans work. There are options between "never use AI" and "copy/paste from AI uncritically"

Also helps that Obama didn't airdrop in to derail things because he wanted to watch some basketball
My general reaction to the NBPA is "why would you do that??" but the WNBPA seems like it understands the assignment, which the league full of NBA owners is realizing in real time.

there's a lot other major sports unions could learn from the WNBPA on a comms level. Too many are quiet and allow the narrative to be controlled by the league and all-too-willing media. WNBA players are out there doing the media rounds counteracting it, productively using any media appearance.

I can’t speak for the entire Jewish community, but personally I have been watching many of y’all under-react to ICE actions for the last year and suddenly understanding in a whole new way how my family ended up being rounded up and massacred in camps and y’all should think on that.
ICE has murdered THIRTY TWO PEOPLE in detention centers. Four in the last week.

"This week, something clicked — I realized how exhausting, frustrating, and emotional it is to see these women have to fight tooth and nail for the most basic of benefits. It’s a reflection — and reminder — of the emotional exhaustion that being a woman in our society creates."

An additional note on police shooting at cars: Back in the mid-1990s D.C. police shot at people in cars for alleged vehicular attacks 54 times, leading to deaths, lawsuits, and a change in department policy to largely require that officers not shoot at fleeing drivers.
Regarding today’s shooting in Minneapolis, recall that in mid-October a federal agent shot and almost killed D.C. driver Phillip Brown under similar circumstances. The agent claimed Brown was driving towards him as he tried to flee from a police stop.

Can you accept - even w/o agreeing with all our positions - that Black people know profound truths about this country that are not on Schoolhouse Rock?

Now that the tactics they’ve used in our communities are becoming national policy, are you ready to concede that you need our “expertise” as well?
I’m glad to see Bill say this. But when after a century of just the type of abuse we saw today - relentless and cruel, ensnaring our children and intimidating our communities - young Black people said in frustration, anger, and demand for change “defund the police” - so many of you denounced them.

Evergreen:

The first thing cops say after an incident is always a lie.
Black folk will tell you: The 1st thing cops say after an incident is always a lie.🤷🏿‍♂️

They lie because there's upside in it for them, and no downside.

No matter how many times they get caught lying, newspapers will print their next lie as the gospel truth.🤡

And people stop caring before truth hits
ICE lied about the person it shot, claiming he was a "criminal," but NBC finds that he had no criminal history whatsoever. Not even traffic tickets in 12 years! It also lied about the extent of the injuries to its agents....

This is why it annoys me when people try to make it seem as if this is how things have always been. There was a time when greater literacy and reading as a part of everyday life for people of every class was a national mission. Then it changed drastically and now we’re here.
Last fall I ended up looking at a lot of Seventeen magazines for a project. Even in the late 90's, there was a section of book recs in every issue. One of them was historical fiction about the life of Van Gogh, doorstop-thick. It hit me then how much of a reading culture we've lost.
