Order muppet in Pittsburgh. I play in a bunch of bands and I ride a bike around.

Mostly skeets about music, Pgh, urbanism, lefty stuff, bad jokes, nice things I see, and my cat
A friend ported it to Spotify if you want that

Hey #Pittsburgh - if you take the T... service between South Hills Junction and Downtown is suspended. You must take a shuttle bus between those points.

Taking one of the Y buses is a good alternative as well if your origin/destination is not #Allentown. #LightRail #PRT

happy new bi gan film day to all who celebrate!
Still kicking myself for missing this in theaters. Bi Gan release another movie please! (Is he on here? Can someone give him an invite?)
Niche nerdy film post: I finally ordered the blu-ray of Bi Gan's "Long Day's Journey Into Night" and am so excited to finally see the hour-long single-take end shot in 3-D!

Happy to see an idea like this being floated, but still disappointed that even under the framing of "Big Ideas", reenvisioning other roadways is "impossible to justify"

jim henson-ass fish
This picture has been making the rounds again, and is being misidentified again.

This is a GOOSEFISH.

This is NOT a tasselled wobbegong shark.

It’s a great pic. I get why people are very excited about it. But it’s as easy to give it the right name as the wrong one.

semi-tangential/kinda-related take: music publications who couldn't wait to publish their 2024 "best of" list until all the contenders came out shouldn't get to slide good December albums from last year onto their 2025 list
we wrap in early january 👀🤭

which pitt people remember the let's active poster that inexplicably hung in the lobby of a quad dorm (Holland??) from 1980s-2010?
Universal is finally (FINALLY!) putting the complete discography of Let's Active on digital music apps this week. I spoke to frontman Mitch Easter about how it came together, and what fans can expect from his set of songs from the band this weekend in Winston-Salem, NC.
A Second Disc Interview: Let's Revisit Let's Active with Mitch Easter - The Second Disc
"Making records is a really good idea," Mitch Easter says, partway through a chat with The Second Disc. He's, of course, absolutely correct, and he would know. The Winston-Salem, North Carolina native...

Same for early 2000s - when I started getting into Prince, I could buy one CD for $12 or 4 LPs from Jerry's for the same price. Still have every LP from Dirty Mind to Graffiti Bridge, probably cost me $30-40 all in
the reason I bought LPs in the 1990s wasn't for that amazing analog sound, but because the amazing used prices: three or more LPs for the cost of one used CD.
Interesting convo with a friend who owns a hip NYC record shop about a sudden renewed interest in CDs, which were a negligible part of his business till recently.

kind of heartened that I've been seeing a number of prominent musicians only upload a handful of songs to their new albums' release pages on various online streaming services (and saving the rest for purchase). feels better for indie artists, feels better for pushing against the whole ecosystem

BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.
