If that dude has shown up at my University preschool not only would I not open the door for him, he'd be face down on the ground surrounded by campus police before he could say pizzagate.

Actual result of Google Maps search for "daycare". Searches for "childcare" and "preschool" gives slightly different location results but similar numbers.

I was an early childhood educator for over twenty years. This bullshit needs to stop now or children are going to get hurt.

I never hate myself more than when I end up watching something on tv with ads when I own the Blu-ray.

If you're the dad of two boys who go off to use the restroom and you don't yell after them "Don't cross the streams!" you have failed as a father.

No state funeral when it happens.
Clog the procession route.
Humanity displacing a last reach for legitimacy.
The final no kings protest.

If you have a billion dollars, you literally have enough money to never have to hear any criticism for the rest of your life. Just because they’re all addicted to going online and getting yelled at isn’t my fucking problem.
The perfect Yglesias post: declaring “billionaires are good, actually,” as if it was some bold, counterintuitive take.

Sometimes I think about hosting a co-writing video session or something but I'm afraid I'll forget I'm on camera and start picking my nose.

Also, "I'm afraid to say nice things about AI because people are so mean about it" is pure Harper's Letter imaginary victimhood and also people do tend to react strongly when you steal everything they worked hard to create and then threaten their livelihood with the stuff you stole.

We live in an age where it's not enough that some people want to be incredibly destructive—they insist we appreciate them for it. Love them. Give them awards.

This open letter is disingenuous, condescending, and gross.

On the "intimacy" of datasets: "We might be stored next to each other in a folder. Electrons might zap through my face and into yours. We might be touching."

I AM VOMITING FROM BOTH ENDS
What if AI datasets are gatherings we never chose, but could reclaim?

This new #NothingPersonal article explores the hidden intimacy of datasets and what consent, care, and agency could look like if we took the lead.

The Art of the Dataset Gathering
Generative AI datasets take something that might seem small from each of us in order to accumulate something vast that is stored seemingly indefinitely. Since we are already a part of these billion do...

The best things about A Man Called Sloane are 1) had a groovy disco theme complete with laser pew-pew sound effects and 2) co-starred Ji-Tu Cumbuka as Torque, a tall black dude who had a mechanical hand that could SLICE OPEN A COCONUT IN ONE CHOP.

Thought on this, slept on this, and I'm going to say:

"Be nice to everyone, because you don't know who will end up famous" is gross opportunistic advice.

Hang with the people you want to hang with. Befriend likeminded souls. Be kind but also confident. Don't string people along. That's cruel.

I resent having to say "human-made art" because genAI text or images aren't any kind of art at all.
