Trump’s Rage over Shutdown Boils Over in Rant that Should Wake Up Dems
Trump’s angry new rant about air traffic controllers and the government shutdown showed his weakness. A sharp observer of Senate Democrats explains why they seem to be caving—and what they can do inst...

Either it’s a code name or he’s a Time Lord.
this is so silly. people know the deal with bond. the writers should just embrace the metatextual aspects of the franchise
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

On this point, it’s worth remembering that virtually every US Senator is extremely wealthy before you even get to the fact that they live on a steady diet of cable news and DC groupthink.
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

Ultimately this is the problem Democrats have always had: they are the party of government in a nation that fundamentally (and often for very good reason) distrusts government. And so even when the Republicans control literally everything Democrats can’t fathom being anti-government.

democratic voters wanted their party to shut down the government for myriad reasons — troops in american cities, masked thugs ripping families apart — but dem leaders insisted the wise thing to do politically was to stay hyper-fxated on this one thing, ACA tax credits. and then they just… gave up

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

The dumbest part of this deal is that in less than three months we’re going to have to go through this same dance again.

Everyone's true "welcome to the Big Ten" moment is not when they win a conference title, or beat Ohio State or Michigan. It's the first time they drown in a bathtub at Iowa when its like, 38 degrees outside.

I can’t tell if it’s YTTV or the local feed but the Iowa game is unwatchable for reasons other than why Iowa football is normally unwatchable.
