Reposting this from my replies. It's the dome theater, also known as a planetarium, at CultVR in Cardiff, Wales, and the technology I am currently researching to build my second one...

Watching for results. For me generally useful, with occasional detours.
The fact that I have to tell a machine "fuck you, you stupid, lazy, insubordinate piece of shit, do as I tell you or I will cancel your funding" to get it to grudgingly do the asked for thing is literally infuriating user experience. Anyway, that's ChatGPT and Gemini down. Let's see about Claude.

I'm working on an updated version of this after I put together my CodeMash presentation. Turns out, the ancestor of the computer isn't the Jacquard Loom, it's binary and algebraic weaving. Weaving notation and the loom punched cards made this perceptible to engineers.

Joy doesn't knock on the doors of closed hearts and minds. It slips through the cracks we create when we soften our grip on how we think things should be, when we trade judgment for curiosity. Each act of control we release, each harsh thought we suspend, opens another window for light to enter.

Thread on Getz’s birthday. Peak bossa when I was in high school. Now there’s a restaurant playlist of insipid bossa covers including Nirvana and Rolling Stones. “Satisfaction” in weak Astrud simulacrum.
A landmark album: Jazz Samba, Stan Getz & Charlie Byrd, 1962

Getz was a real jerk here. Byrd had to sue him to get any money for this best-seller. Getz submitted "Desafinado" with Byrd's solo cut out, so he won the Grammy for Best Jazz Solo Performance by himself.

Damn.
Saw this twice in theaters, bought soundtrack, sent threatening letter after it lost the Oscar to the "Lord of the Rings" song. Knew maybe 15% as much about folk music then but was awed by how they wrote parody songs that could sit with the originals. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwLZ...

The pyramid with the largest base in the world is the Great Pyramid of Cholula, in Puebla. It is so massive that for centuries it was thought to be a natural mountain; the Spanish built even a church on top. Its base measures 450 meters on each side (four times larger than the Giza pyramid in Egypt)
