I am making a documentary about a Black physician who was denied hospital admitting privileges in the Jim Crow era, co-founded and led a Black hospital for decades, and was the first African American to run for public office in Alabama since Reconstruction. www.docgoodefilm.com

This and Mamdani’s revocation of all EOs after Adams’s corrupt bargain are the template moving forward. No nibbling around the edges; total bulldozing.

Top Youngkin appointees resign

Spanberger should be able to easily replace them given Dem trifecta

ICE is not supposed to have a policing function. To call for them to engage in “de-escalation training” is to cede to the fact that they’re going to be policing cities.

I love Lubitsch and this is definitely one of his best. Congratulations on your essay coming out.

Pittman's appropriation of Hebrew scriptural texts reminds me of Ezra Pound's appropriation of Confucius and Chinese Tang poetry to lend support to his own highly idiosyncratic cultural fascism.
The man who committed arson against a synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, sells "scripture-backed fitness" and "Christian diet/testosterone optimization."

Toxic masculinity and antisemitism are so closely intertwined on the online right.

The Mississippi synagogue arson suspect has a Christian fitness site. Here’s what that tells us
The suspect behind an arson attack on a Mississippi synagogue ran a Christian fitness site, giving insight on his motivations and media diet.

While we’re in the streets demanding ICE Out For Good, Democratic leaders are dodging questions about whether an agency that teargasses babies and kills innocent people should continue to have a budget bigger than most countries’ militaries. It’s pathetic.

When the Trump era is finally over, this will be Exhibit A in how the state takeover of legacy news media was accomplished.
As bad as the interview with Trump was, the most nauseating part of the show came at the end, when Tony patted himself on the back for his “newsmaking” interviews and told audiences he trusted them to “listen… and decide for yourself.” youtu.be/OyXExakWMZo?...

we should want to make it undeniable that there is no choice but to end ICE, prosecute its officers for lawbreaking, and fundamentally rethink immigration enforcement.

I'm seriously warming to the idea of term limits. Both parties have too many long-term incumbents. Murray and Delauro have been in office since the early nineties. Let's say 18 years for House & Senate. That's plenty of time to leave a legacy.

I’m seeing lots of people on here misunderstand the purpose of ICE watch.

It’s de-escalation. And it’s grounded in the social science of violence. 🧵

I seem to remember a time long ago when Lipstadt had fairly dovish views on Israel. It's sad to see how extreme she has become.

Somali immigrants are fully human, no better or worse than the rest of us. We should defend them, not because of inherent virtues, but because they have been scapegoated and collectively punished for fraud allegations that are still being investigated and haven't been thoroughly reported.

When the State Terrorizes the People

The killing of Renee Good reveals, yet again, Trumpism’s violent, authoritarian essence. MAGA is at war with the reality of American society.

No, science is not doing OK. It's been hollowed out, politicized, and brutally mocked to the public.
This reflects only the appropriation levels.

The damage done to processes and personnel within the science agencies is considerable.
