Everyone interested in diagnosing the symptoms of democracy's decline and restoring it to health should read this book. It was published in 1927 but feels like it could have been written yesterday. #booksky

I certainly hope the age of public broadcasting is not over.

How I think about the power of public broadcasting is largely shaped by this classic text by Raymond Williams, Television: Technology and Cultural Form, which challenges McLuhan's technological determinism on a number of points.

I am sorry, I like Wajahat Ali and I am not defending the IDF but he is totally wrong. Not only supporters of Israel, but random Jews get asked point blank to defend Israel's actions ALL THE TIME. It's happened to me and I hate it.

I am delighted to be talking with @bschillace.brandyschillace.com about her new book tonight on Zoom, 6 pm CST. It's about the founding of the world's first trans health clinic in Weimar, Germany. It's a fascinating story & Schillace is a wonderful writer. Please message me if you'd like to attend.

Earlier this year, I read The Looking Glass War by John le Carré. It isn't one of his more popular novels. However, despite its flaws, I think it was ahead of its time. Le Carré was coming off the huge success of The Spy Who Came In From the Cold and wanted to try something different. /1
