This is word for word the conventional wisdom pre-WW1 about why a general war in Europe was impossible
Because everyone’s economy would zero out before anything on the scale of previous world wars took place. I don’t rule out a small scale military exchange between the US and other powers but that’s completely different from WW I/II. It’s a category error.

They really thought the people would be the same sort of cowards they themselves are, but you can see from the short history of ICE Surges that nothing has gone their way. In the end, they have maybe enough agents to pacify a few Midwest college towns but nothing more. They are failing.
