The EHRC want to exclude women from femal single-sex spaces based on how "female" they look.

This is off the scale sexism and misogyny.

Millions of women will face harassment as result of this insanity.

“Many classic Original Series episodes are built around criticisms of war, racism and greed. In a now-infamous season three episode, “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield,” Star Trek gave one of its most pointed critiques of racism ever.”

Study finds that women’s names filled just 23% of author slots in 900 retracted articles published in medical journals (2008 - 2017). One possible explanation: women are more detail oriented & know they will be subject to scrutiny; thus are more careful.

Women seem to retract fewer papers than men — but why?
In an analysis of nearly 900 retracted medical research studies, the number of female authors is disproportionately low.

How do public perceptions of government spending match with reality?

A YouGov experiment put a series of govt spending areas as head to head match-ups and asked Britons to say which they thought more was spent on

As someone who’s family had to flee Nazi Germany, this is really disgusting stuff from my government
This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

I love and admire Ben for many reasons, and one of them is how perfectly he is able to distill the pathetic-ness of the right and instill hope and solidarity in everyone else around him.

Anyway, go read his interview with the biggest Spanish newspaper here: english.elpais.com/technology/2...

I don’t think talking heads and politicians realise what ordinary people mean when they want to “lower inflation”. They don’t mean they want prices to stop rising, they want prices to go back where they were relative to their income

A decade later, though, the iPad Pro has changed. Rather than try to make it into something other than a laptop, Apple made it… a laptop.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.
