So far the UAE and Israel’s game of undermining sovereignty across the Middle East and North Africa by encouraging separatism and fragmentation under cover of US patronage hasn’t led to serious backlash. MBS put the brakes on in Yemen. But Iran blowing up is not going to play out like they hope.

the issue isn't that US forces can't force the island to submit. It has a uniquely small population. We could theoretically just murder everyone.
But there is a fairly small threshold of resistance past which our only path forward is "mass murder of our recent allies"
