If we're stuck on this ship and it's sinking
Then we might as well have a parade
We already litigated this, didn't we? And this theory lost at every level, right?
This is absurd and plainly illegal. The courts should reject this fringe theory.

But the real news here is Trump will do anything to try to kill an agency that has returned more than $21 billion to scammed Americans, but he'll do nothing to lower costs for American families.

This is so good and so sharp and so smart about Scott Galloway, a guy that I can only describe as a more sober, equally dumb and equally unoriginal Hydrox Jordan B. Peterson.

What Did Men Do to Deserve This?
Changes in the economy and in the culture seem to have hit them hard. Scott Galloway believes they need an “aspirational vision of masculinity.”

It takes a real skill set to be able to throw down 50 drinks an hour perfectly every time while chatting up the six customers who are watching you make their drink like a goddamn eagle of entitlement.
it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

Lol this is how I find out that James McMurtry is playing at the AMFA in Thursday??? I'm taking a major major L on this one.
Alas, this sure-to-be-brilliant show at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts is already sold out, but maybe someone you know is willing to part ways with their tickets?

Wild that a product that lowers monthly payments by ~10% while raising total interest paid by ~40% wasn't more popular with the consumer.
Concerning

Everybody Knows What Wrong With Nathan Silver is the name of my next album
What the fuck is wrong with Nate Silver? This is a rhetorical question. We all know.

Scott Galloway saw a Jordan Peterson-shaped hole in the sexist grift game and went full send. Just as the existence of borders implies the violence to maintain them, the existence of "trad" masculinity & gender norms implies men utilizing violence to uphold them. Scott is just another tool to this.

I basically agree with this (and several other points made) but where I go crazy is the part where Dems tried to make this a single-issue shutdown (and tbf it's a VERY important issue) and then caved in the most chinless way possible. Like, they couldn't have been more transparently gutless.
I thought they should have initiated the shutdown and they chose a good issue for it in the first place, but I was on record over and over again as super wary about how much they were going to be able to sustain it basically at this very point.

"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

Two Barcelona thoughts:

Fermin Lopez is an honestly incredible player. Full stop.

Marcus Rashford is not better than Raphinha, but he's been 5x better than anyone thought he would be.

At least Neville Chamberlain had the excuse of trying to avoid another WWI-style hamburger grinder. These bros are full-on collaborators at this point.
looks like senate dems are folding on the shutdown in exchange for a doomed vote 40 days from now and nothing else

Diego is my new favorite hater.
Against Hugh Freeze's former team, Diego Pavia accounted for 489 of Vandy's 563 yards (87%) and 28 of the 'Dores 45 points (62%). He moves to 4-0 against teams coached by Freeze at one point in the season during his career.

I got something to tell you about the Senator from Texas, y'all.

I also got something to tell you about a lot of Christians.
James Talarico, a Texas Democrat running for U.S. Senate who has put his faith at the forefront of his campaign, follows several adult film performers, escorts and OnlyFans models on Instagram, according to an Axios review.

All I know to say about this album is that in another time I would have burned it on a CD from a friend who had the money to buy it, and it would have lived in my discman in the car for like six straight weeks.
did you know the Mountain Goats have a new album out today and you can buy it or stream it and dance to it in your living room or while driving or on the subway and it's a whole vibe? well now you know that 30tgrs.ffm.to/ttfafpb

If you're local to Little Rock, this is the MS equivalent of LRCA, Pulaski Academy, Arkansas Baptist, or CAC.
The Mississippi GOP's main project has been to roll back the civil rights movement, starting with the re-segregation of public schools. ProPublica identified 20 segregation academies in Mississippi that received almost $10 mn over 6 years from state coffers.

ProPublica identified 20 schools in the state that likely opened as segregation academies and have received almost $10 million over the past six years from the state’s tax credit donation program.
