I do watercolor and gouache #SciArt, and occasional commissions. Here's a few of my favorites! An illustration of a tibia fusus shell, a Greater Yellowlegs bird on toned paper, photorealistic renderings of Silvery Blue butterflies, and a pigment-test sketch that turned into a lovely stormy sky.

The yellow legs are very long, suited to its lifestyle as a wading bird. The black and white tail extends to the right. Watercolor and gouache paintings of two Silvery Blue butterflies. These very small butterflies are painted nearly life size. The one at top left is a faster sketch on paper that already had some watercolor washes in orange, yellow, and green. The lower butterfly was painted in more detail. Both show the same view, top-down with the insect's wings open. They are a beautiful soft blue color, with black and white edges to the wings. Both insects are painted with a cast shadow, as if they were perched on the page about to fly away. A watercolor sky filled with menacing clouds. There is a clear slot between the upper and lower layers of clouds, with a jetliner sailing serenely between them. Colors are maroon, deep blue, and the many grays that form when these two pigments are mixed. PR179 and PB27 for the watercolor geeks that may be viewing.

Ruby's at the end of the Seal Beach Pier, Seal Beach, CA. It was a chain restaurant obviously, but also where OH and I started our first date. Breakfast over the water. We ended up spending the entire day together. 😊

It closed after 25 years on the pier & sat empty; the building burned down later.

This year I’m donating a small drawing to @paeartforacause to support an art program to help people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The challenge for me is that it has to be 5x7 inches, which is smaller than I’m used to! Attempt #2 underway …

Yeah, my saving grace was me making them create a mockup contract stipulating a very short period of time before they had to present a REAL contract, or lose their rights.

They never presented a real contract, so that little paper saved me when legal got involved.

The Santa Ana River, which is a trickle so much of the year that a golf course lives on the river bottom. It gets flooded every so often when there's an especially rainy year.

Some really disturbing videos making the rounds, so it’s a good idea to make sure videos aren’t playing automatically if you don’t want to see them.

Go Settings > Content & Media, and make sure Autoplay is turned off.
