Same, except I'm getting flashbacks to Dubya's invasion of Iraq. Just to give the younger folks an idea of how this still affects my generation, i met up with an old high school pal a few months ago who told me he was shot in Iraq and now has a permanent disability.
I am struggling with what might be a generational experience. The gulf war was pretty politically formative for me. It’s not history so much as memory this time.
It is destabilizing to see almost the exact same gameplan but this time without the guardrails that at the time I took for granted.

If you can't afford it, that's completely valid. But stop complaining about what people are asking for their work when you know nothing about their costs, their expertise, or their reasons. Leave a genuine compliment if you appreciate it, or just keep scrolling. It's that simple. #MagicalBazaar
When it comes to handmade goods especially, it's incredibly disrespectful to screenshot products, tag friends asking them to recreate it, or comment about how you could make it cheaper yourself. You don't know the hours, the skill, the materials, or the story behind what someone is charging.
We need to have more honest conversations about money as a collective. We often mean well, but we should never assume what someone can or cannot afford based on our own financial situation. We definitely shouldn't get upset about someone's pricing just because it doesn't fit our personal budget.

I've discussed this on here before, but after my heart attack, I was dismissed from my PhD program at the end of year 4 for being unlikely to complete the degree within 5 years, a timeline that literally no one else in the history of the program had ever been held to, or even achieved, while healthy
We need to be able to see that the line "accommodations have gone too far" is an expression of the ableist notion that disabled students do not belong in higher ed. Its fundamentally an anxiety about the fact that disabled students get an "advantage" over abled students.
