Our felines love snow days bc we feed the birds on these days, offering them veritable cat television! #kansascity #catsofbluesky #birdwatching

I'm glad so many are committed to NOT using this trash. Let 'em tank sooner rather than later bc the slop will engulf us all after those at the top of the pyramid gleefully steal away, having "got theirs"
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

Booting from USB, but one of the cats chose the moment my finger was hovering over the boot choices to slide down my leg with claws out. Now I have no idea which option I chose.

So *over* all the big tech companies pushing AI at me. I've had it. Putting a Linux OS on my old computer (that Windows 11 won't install on anyway). I'm gonna get familiar with it then proselytize open source everything to my friends and coworkers. Fuck you Microsoft. You've pushed too far.

Well, the ones that insisted on having their litters in our 2nd floor ceiling (despite our work to exclude them, this past summer they tore a new hole in the roof!) must have become quite used to our voices and movement.
Human trash is 'kick-starting' the domestication of city-dwelling raccoons, study suggests
Raccoons that live near humans had shorter snouts than rural raccoons, a trait that tends to arise in the early stages of domestication.

Entire family hacking evil medical device together. Fuck you, evil medical profit-extracting death-prolonging manufacturing fuckhead device fuckers that make non replaceable hoses. Guess what? We are scrappy POSes trying to help my 1931-vintage dad. We will find a way.

One of our tracked bald eagles, hatched in east-central IL, became our first tagged nestling in the project to breed at just 5 years old. Sadly, she was found grounded in IN last week. A necropsy will tell us more. Choosing lead-free ammo is one way hunters can help eagles!

All those rooting against KC because they wanted "chaos" now get to watch the last four years' champions vie for the 2025 championship. It reminds me of the definition of oppression for privileged people. Spirit, Thorns, Gotham, and Pride were all oppressed by Current, ya know. #NWSLPlayoffs

The huge-market team in the world-famous city defeats the small-market team trying to make good in flyover country through *real* investment in womens' sport. Y'all really showed us how the "underdog" triumphs. Fuckin hell. How KC gets framed as a villain is mystifying. #nwsl

First we had to make the decision to euthanize our 12-y-o goat this week and now the #KCCurrent is losing its playoff game. I have *never* been into sports, let alone emotional about them. Today I just canNOT deal with something that isn't even important in the grand scheme. So stupid!

Look what New Zealand's public radio does for pets during their big fireworks holiday! This is so sweet. I wonder if I they would consider promoting this via streaming for U.S. pets on July 4?

There's one winning football team in town! Everyone should watch women's sports! #kccurrent

We are hanging out in the kitchen with ailing goatie, as are all 3 cats. And kitchen is cold with no soft cushions. Yet here they are. House cats are indeed social creatures. #cats #goats

When your pet is considered livestock, it's really hard to get veterinarians to treat them like pets. Mom of 12-year-old meat goat breed who is stressing out over an acute, but possibly end-of-life issue if we can't get treatment that "pet" vets would absolutely provide for dogs and cats. #goats

The U.S. needs the equivalent of an Aarhus Convention! Im so impressed with the legal cost cap thing.
The Hon Mr Justice Fordham has released his written judgement about why he dismissed Natural England's attempt to increase our costs cap for our legal challenge against Badger cull licences 🦡⚖️

A v important judgement for all environmental groups!

Already had near panic attack yesterday after reading about worldwide widening violence and financial ruin. Today got first stop work order on a federal grant. I have GOT to unplug for a few hours. My head and heart are too done-in.
