Hi hello howdy #portfolioday
I've worked in editorial, publishing, advertising, video games, studio production, animation and TTRPGs. Lately it's been mostly book projects and cards. I like drawing everything, but especially light 🌥️

Suddenly remembering a core New Year's day memory: on the L train on my way to work in Bushwick, looking out the window while listening to Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" and seeing what looked to be someone's great American novel flying out their 10th floor apartment window one page at a time.

Blockbuster interview about institutional transphobia at the New York Times that names names of the bigots responsible: A.G. Sulzberger, Joe Kahn, Carolyn Ryan at the top, plus Pamela Paul, Jeremy Peters, Azeen Ghorayshi, Katie J.M. Baker, & an entire anti-trans pro-mgmt splinter group in the union
In this in-depth interview Billie Jean Sweeney — a former editor at The New York Times — details how the paper shifted towards openly promoting anti-trans hatred, why this was directed from the very top, how some staff pushed back and the immense damage done by the NYT legitimizing bigotry.

I have so little time for personal art nowadays that it has become precious to me. This year of 2025 I made these two that I adore - Time's End and Sea of Giants, both for a personal project :)

Cosmo rang in the new year trying to solve the puzzle of the other mystery dog at the party. My sweet and gentle man, who will be 13 this year, who gets older and slower and more grey every day, my only goal in 2026 is to enjoy him.

Drawing on my iPad today which I rarely do and found this magnificently corrupted file of past studies in procreate.

I want to do a year end post but most of my proudest work is still under a pile of NDAs, so ok I’ll do a year end reading round up…and most of the books I read aren’t published/announced. lol did I do anything this year, idk, here I am enjoying my invisible work in my mind palace, happy new year

a neighbor used to have a husky and a pig in their yard. tore that yard up and churned it into a mudhole. the happiest dirtiest pair you've ever seen. they loved each other and they loved their mudhole. they moved away and now it's just a regular grass yard but once it was paradise

"You shouldn't make art for the money" buddy I'll take it one step further and say we shouldn't have to labor for capital at all but in the meantime pay an artist

What a job to end the year on: I had the supreme pleasure of drawing a sad Narcissus Frankenstein for the Washington Post. I almost thought I couldn't do it but AD Danielle moved heaven and earth to fit my full schedule. Ty Danielle!

I could not have anticipated that my next millennial civic duty, after years in the trenches teaching boomers how to export PDFs, is to spend the rest of my life telling them that the video they shared of a fox bringing a woman cut flowers is AI.

Happy birthday to my little niece. Her name is Riker because 3 years ago I talked my brother and SIL into naming her after a Star Trek character and it’s my life’s greatest accomplishment. I have never and will never want kids of my own but I love being a Party Aunt 😎

Everybody is saying that you should hire me to absolutely nail the look of your characters in 2026
Hey!

Do you need a highly technical character artist with almost 15 years of individual contributor and leadership experience? Looking for someone to wrangle your shaders? Or perhaps you need a person to assemble your character art pipeline?

That's me!

Every year I give a card full of cash to my mailman and my coffee shop baristas. When I was a barista in my 20s making like 18k a year I had a regular who gave me $50 gift cards at Christmas. It was so kind and I’m grateful to have enough success in this life that I can pay this tradition forward.
