It takes 0.04 liters of water to make a single AI image. Meanwhile, it takes 5 liters to make a single piece of paper, and presumably even more when you add a pencil to it.

Using AI to make art is literally better for the environment than pencil and paper. www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...

Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Out of curiosity I decided to try and run the numbers on how much Netflix you can watch for the energy cost of a ChatGPT prompt

As far as I can tell it's between 5.1 and 10.2 seconds, depending on which end of the 2019 IEA Netflix energy usage estimate you use

Why does Donald Trump never stand up any more? Short press conference? Seated. Photo op for the cronies? Seated. Wtf?? No one in the press asking why he’s seated behind a folding card table with a $1.99 tablecloth and they’re behind a velvet rope 30 feet back? Is this related to the MRI results?

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Logins where you give them your username and they email you a 6-digit code and you have to switch apps, copy, switch back and paste should be illegal. THIS IS WHY THEY INVENTED PASSWORDS AND PASSKEYS AND 2FA DEVICES.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

The best part of this is when they zoom in and there’s an unironic quote from Parker Posey’s character from white lotus as intro to the description of the trip.

…and now you’re facing retirement and lower income and can’t afford the mortgage and have to sell but have no equity. Yay.
Trump‘s brilliant plan of 50 year mortgages means that after your first 20 years making huge interest payments to a bank you will have paid down almost none of the principal and they will still own the house you are living in with 30 years to go. A scam from a career con man.

You know, cities, even if CBP and ICE agents will later in court be found to have “immunity” that doesn’t mean you can’t arrest them and force them through the process while holding them in jail for kidnapping/assault/civil rights violations/etc.

“Imagine if the Senate allowed democracy?? Just imagine it! Good lord!”
Johnson: "If they had no filibuster, they would pack the SCOTUS. You'd go from 9 to 17 or however many liberals they could pack. You would make DC & Puerto Rico into states, which would give 4 additional Democrat senators & make us a permanent minority. You'd see massive restrictions of 2A rights"

Today would be a good day for the pope to visit home.
Note: while not unprecedented, it’s actually pretty rare for a sitting Catholic bishop to participate in a demonstration. It’s just not generally what Catholic bishops do.

Thus: Getting the hierarchy involved in this protest outside an ICE facility is no small thing.
Chicago Auxiliary Bishop José María Garcia-Maldonado at ICE detention facility: “Being here is an act of holiness…soon we will seek access to the facility to bring the Eucharist to our brothers and sisters; if they say no again, we will keep praying.”

How come noone is mentioning that there's something quite specific that happens in November in the US which will be dramatically hard hit by no SNAP funding. The impact will be on the 42 million people who can't eat, but it'll also hit every grocery store and food producer and well beyond.
