Ryan Grim joking around on Twitter about “the Ukraine” and how ridiculous caring about it was, and how pathetic Dem war mongering over something that obviously wasn’t going to happen was, as I was flying back to DC after having been evacuated from Kyiv is seared in my brain.

Jewish fears (as minority communities) are real and justified. Israel's project of the subjugation, dispossession and elimination of Palestinians feeds of those fears. If you want to stop that project, you should think proactively how to allay Jewish fears, not how to make them worse.

For some people, shouting "we don't want no Zionists here" is like "we don't want no fascists here". I can see their argument - terrible things were done in the name of Zionism.

But almost all Jews would hear "we don't want no Jews here". And they have good reason to fear this is the subtext.

For me this is very simple.

There is widespread, longstanding practice of using "Zionists" as coded slur for Jews, or "Jews I don't like" (regardless how they define themselves).

That is sufficient reason to refrain from broad-brush language such as "Zionism=Racism" or "Zionists not welcome".
Here is an explanation on why Jewish Greens (who obviously don't speak for every single Jewish person in the party, etc) are so opposed to the Zionism is Racism motion brought to the #GreenParty's spring conference.

Why Jewish Greens are urging party members to vote against MOTION A105: ZIONISM IS RACISM - Jewish Greens
Jewish Greens oppose motion at party conference unintentionally antisemitic

Here's the thing about forgiveness and grace- they're good. When someone has decided to go "I was wrong, I want to do good", that is *not* the time to try and kick them while they're down or demand they participate in a Struggle Session before you accept it.
I am gonna go out on a limb and say that a Jersey dude so horrified that he went to his first protest and is trying not to cry on camera has a pretty good chance of staying radicalized. And that while Bluesky loves to pick apart things like this, this kinda video moves the needle for OTHER dudes.
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at today’s ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch 😭. @maddow.bsky.social

Motherfuckers got a Time Machine and they go “what if we got Dr King to not become a civil rights leader” and not “what if we beat James Earl Ray with as many baseball bats as we can swing earlier that fateful week when he’s least expecting time traveling bat wielding teens to send him to the ER”
in about 2000 I watched an entirely demented cartoon while babysitting about teens going back in time to save Martin Luther King by dissuading him from becoming an activist, but then they get back to the present and it's racist so they go back to convince him to accept death.

Behind the numbers, the rhetoric, and the politics of ICE detentions and deportations, there are people whose lives are being uprooted—and families who depend on them.

🎧 On this week’s Reveal, stories about the human cost of immigration raids:
As aggressive ICE raids rise, we look at the people being targeted and the families they’re leaving behind
As the Trump administration aims to deport millions of people over the next four years, “Reveal” tells the human stories of those caught up in ICE raids.

I wish Animal Crossing had a "I pay taxes" mode where you can cut through the dialogue and other stuff that involves just pushing the "A" button over and over again while the villagers yammer and make some of the seasonal drops happen a bit more frequently.

This is a diabolically bad answer, just the worst sort of naive class politics imaginable. I like AOC, but she really needs to wise up about these people:
You do not have to search it is the literal beginning here, incredibly badly framed question (but very German politics) and an incredibly bad answer.

hello and welcome to the political genius exam. here is question one. which is a more compelling message:

- the president is sending armies to occupy cities and kidnap and kill people and your town could be next
- a meal at the cheesecake factory that previously cost $100 now costs $104.9

How Yarmouk refugee camp became the worst place in Syria | Jonathan Steele
The long read: Yarmouk, near the centre of Damascus, prospered as a safe haven for Palestinians. Under siege, it is now a prison for its remaining residents, who survive on little food and water, with...
