He was victim blaming Ukraine in the first parts of the war

Yet @gianmarcosoresi.bsky.social keeps platforming him and it's really disappointing.

Not everyone who supports Palestine does so because they're good people. Some just do so because they hate the west.

The difference is that they made a hell of a lot of federal workers miss paychecks and snap recipients worry about where their next meal was coming from. You can’t play with people‘s live like this without delivering anything.
The people mad today were equally mad six months ago when the same thing happened and then forgot it happened mostly. With that said I think the risk for Dems is that the rage persists in an inchoate way that can’t even really be cured, since no one remembers where it came from

Social media neither rewards this nor does it reward "while I can see the rationale and the intracaucus pressures, I think holding out until SCOTUS fucks SNAP would have been a better outcome" over "it's a cave because they're bitches who just want to fly home for break."
yeah there is a large gap between “this move, while possibly not optimal, is at least salvageable and won *something* of value for future engagements” and “this is actually a stroke of strategic genius”

I honestly think it's part of why so many folks cling to the idea that Republican voters are all embarrassed socialists just waiting for the right message to shed their bigotry.
I think one aspect of this is some people are basically unable to psychologically process the reality that way too many republicans exist in raw numbers in this country.

they also don't want to admit that conservates exist. Too many people think the conservatives are just secret socialists that can be realize the "truth" if we say the right thing and not bigots

If you think of Republicans as forces of nature, you’re accepting that they’re evil and we can’t do anything. Democrats do not have the power to stop them as we didn’t give them the power. Republicans are people, evil people and that means attacking them.

Just had an argument with someone who is disappointed that Kim Davis' attempt to overturn marriage equality failed because they wanted people like me to lose our marriages in order to galvanize "a more radical queer movement."

Oh, and because gay marriage is just "capitalist fascism," or something.

For what it's worth, I do basically agree that even pretty good Dem Senators (e.g. Booker) should face a strong primary challenge

Some of them may end up deserving to win those primaries! But they should still have to face them

change state Legal jurisdiction ,Regulate and defund law enforcement and ensure local police only go after Icr Agents
“Nooooo you can’t blame democrats for this the ice/cbp budgets aren’t discretionary, this vote doesn’t relate to them!!!” Buddy good luck telling that to Chicago democrats
You cannot make this stuff up. #ICE indiscriminately spraying pepper spray into cars while driving by should be immediate felony assault.

In this instance, tack on felony child endangerment + whatever else puts them away forever. They maced a 1-year-old baby FFS.

Last bit, but not the least important: what does social equity look like for the War on Drugs, to the limited extent that legalization can address a historical disaster? There’s dozens of visions, mine is, rather than “generational wealth”, “the most good-paying jobs for impacted ppl possible”.

Expungement is going to be messy, ans mostly at the state level— it’s still the vast majority of cannabis cases, and the path to a cleaner record for impacted folks comes from state govt’s proactively removing people from the records (something several legal weed states could afford to improve at)

and there’s several ways that banks are exposed to federal law enforcement provisions, and the chance of losing federally illegal assets is always looming large. a law that says “give cannabis the status of alcohol” (roughly) would work a lot.

Biden relied on going through the federal agencies to push for rescheduling to 3. It was a well-crafted attempt. But the legislature will need to exclude rec MJ industries from criminal treatments, “rec ketamine” businesses make banks uneasy too.

All of the answers for “fixing cannabis” are gonna come at the legislative level. Presidential politics is a sucker’s bet for weed. The overarching categories for unwinding weed from federal law and enforcement would be:
- Controlled Substance status
- Banking laws
- Expungement
- Social Equity

So, on the one hand, the last 5-6 years of low/no licensed “hemp” industry have been a mess, and lost of bullshit has accrued with minimal oversight.

On the other hand, given all this: I think we have a good case for “how bad can uncontrolled weed get?” and…not that bad!

I think it’s becoming clear to me that a lot of folks hoped/thought that “my state lets hemp THC stuff in now, maybe the prohibitionist freaks will retreat”, and I am VERY sorry to say that that is NOT the case, the prudes in your state legislature have been hoppin’ mad since 2019
