I've found a good set of lists of horror movies I'm plodding through but I could use more horror podcast recommendations.
1) Audio Drama types preferred (Single Person Narration puts me to sleep)
2) Non-comedy
3) Non-Actual Play
I was checking out at Balducci's (RIP) before going to ballet class and the cashier greeted the person behind me who had the MOST distinctive voice, and I checked him out as I was bagging up and it was Wallace Shawn.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Let's move this away from the OP's thread into our own @terrifiedintersex.bsky.social
Do you have a specific instance or instances in which Bridget Bardot received trauma that caused her to spend decades advocating for anti immigration laws and anti Muslim laws as well as anti Me Too advocacy?

Now that I'm almost done with @vulgarhistory.bsky.social Marie Antoinette episodes (And this isn't my first foray into her life), I'm just sitting here ...look, I wish more people just understood what happened and more about her and her life. And Louis XVI. +

I'm always fascinated when books go out of their way to describe characters as fat or ugly or stocky or being taller or shorter than others or round faced or anything and how many fan artists completely ignore that.

Is there a sniffies/grindr for "I could use a hug and please be ok if I start crying?"

I have two.
Of all of Tori's albums, I think Under the Pink is her most perfect. Not her BEST but her most perfect.
I still haven't seen Great Expectations but this soundtrack defined a bit of my teen years.

One thing I don't get about the chore robot start ups is how many of them are just young dudes who seem to be maybe not married? and are totally ok coming into the office in a t-shirt and jeans. It's like the Huel guys. Chores are things to be freed from by dudes who look like they've never done any

The fact that i'm having this thought might be a sign I need to log off for a bit but I was recently listening to a podcast that was laughing/poo pooing the concept of blue checks or high follower counts having some sort of Value™️which seems to ... I'm not sure what the right term is.+

I don't particularly understand of people who are over ...25? and can't just use people and places' names. The two that are sticking with me today are Billy Pencils and Isn'tReal like we're all 12. You could be 100% correct in your take and I'll still hide the post.
Maybe this is a me problem but..

I saw some piece that was fan casting a theoretical movie of The Secret History and for Bunny, they had Austin fucking Butler and I don't understand how people read books and don't pay attention to the character descriptions. Bunny is REPEATEDLY described as stocky.+

The other patrons of the 7 Eleven breakfast taco counter on Christmas Morning in a small Texas town are exactly who you think.
Why am I checking Bluesky on Christmas morning? Because I'm having 7-Eleven breakfast tacos in the parking lot of a small town in Texas while on my way to go celebrate Christmas in the hospital. I feel like I have an excuse but don't plan on being on here much more today.

Romance across multiple novels is a hard skill. The book I'm currently reading is the sequel to one with a HEA and it opens with the man having doubts because he's a soldier or something. In the Princess Diaries series, she ends up with a guy in Book 1 and 2 is all "but do you LIKE LIKE me?"+

The hospital toilet has a contraption that stops wipes from flushing. So above the toilet it says "Don't stick your hand in the toilet because there's something sharp in it that will cause injury" and who the hell is just ramming their hand into the toilet?!!

I had a whole thread I was writing cause I picked up a novel at the library and it ended up being Romantasy and deleted it.

The short version is WOW I'm not the target audience for this genre but I guess Romantasy is doing well enough that they don't need my sales or critics?

So, one thing I really appreciated in this was a focus on Dr. Mike's manner, prep, and style that really stopped a lot of the thought terminating cliches, but I want to bring up some things with the general Jubilee format that got touched on by the OP and @julianwalker.bsky.social +

My mom's in the ICU and probably won't be out until after Christmas. This is on top of this year being ... so fucking wonky. My dad pulled out the fake Christmas tree and some of the ornaments and I set it up. I'd make some maudlin statement about The True Meaning of Christmas.

Not having watched live TV in ages, the whiplash of the Kristi Noem "get the fuck out" ad immediately followed by sports gambling apps is a lot and I know I shouldn't be surprised but I am.

Someone in Comanche (Native American tribe and the associated language) asked how to say please and everyone said that no Comanches say please (But will say thank you).
i have tried to learn how to say please and thank you in every country i have worked in. this did result in an extremely funny response from my taiwanese coworker in shanghai - i asked how to say “thank you” and she deadpanned “no one says thank you in china” for a full 30 seconds before breaking
You get so much goodwill in non-Anglophone just by learning enough to introduce yourself and explain that you only know a little bit of their language. They appreciate that you made an effort.

Even without Rowling's black mold issues going on, including a British person carrying a wand around to scream Wingardium Leviosa in a 2025 holiday movie is just ... dated and bad writing. If he tells us that love is actually all around at some point, I'm turning this movie off.

History of the Bauhaus seminar. My college's art history program was divided into two categories.
1) Medieval
2) Pre Columbian Americas
We had a new professor who was doing a lot with more modern German stuff and at the time, I wasn't really interested in anything post PRB.

Scene, an atheist speaking with a USPS worker in a TikTok live

"well, if it weren't for Saturnalia, you'd be doing this in April."

?! Like, one thing I really fucking dislike is how much atheism gets presented as The Smart Choice compared to Idiot Believers but how many folks will say inane caca.
