You know what's *really* fascinating? The *lack* of Le Guin that gets brought up by these guys. And I think we all know why.
One of the things I've changed my mind about in recent years is that Asimov brain may be more pernicious than Rand brain. I'll take hyperindividualism over math dictatorship, actually.
Asimov would 100% be a charles Murray guy I think

A mid-week holiday with the dog at outdoor school meant I could write all day. Flow state achieved! 3,800 words, mostly revision, so about 30 pages. I’m going to finish this novel by the end if the month, so help me.

As Ta Nahesi Coates said last week, “Tell your children who the cowards were.”
like, this isn’t coming from leadership, it’s not coming from consensus, if they get this through — which is still a big if — it’s 8-10 dem senators essentially splitting from the caucus, and they should ask themselves how lieberman is remembered.

Your regular reminder that no matter how seemingly progressive your favorite business is, when it comes to worker power, the owners would often rather pull the plug than own a union shop. That's how deep seated anti-union bias is among the business class.

This is absolutely the case. I’ve seen a huge uptick in Buckman/Belmont. Fewer tents or “prepared” shelters but the very improvised beds of people who have had their previous shelter possessions taken or destroyed. You can’t end homelessness without homes.
In the week since Mayor Wilson began enforcing the public camping ban, we are seeing MORE tents in East Portland. Those folks are just being swept into my district.

I told the mayor that this is what would happen and asked him to bring extra resources to East PDX to meet the displaced. He did not.

AOC went from popular, vocal but naive & ineffective freshman to savvy political operator in six years. MTG might just be following the same learning curve but for cuckoo Nazis.
You fucking people will let anyone off the hook for their violent hateful beliefs and all they have to do is say shiny words you like

You’re all a bunch of Nazi tattoo forgiving, Jewish space lasers forgetting gullible marks getting played for fools

Your reminder that three of the last four Democratic presidents were nowhere on the pudintosphere's radar until the primaries actually began. These people suck at predicting things.
The unofficial 2028 Democratic presidential field is taking shape — and it’s sprawling. Could the candidate be Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer or a dark horse like Rahm Emanuel?

Here are the top contenders:
Analysis | Ranking the 2028 Democratic presidential contenders
There already are a few standouts among Democrats’ potential 2028 candidates, but the long road to the next presidential contest features plenty of dark horses.

NEVER. CROSS. A. PICKET. LINE.
Staff are picketing in front of City Hall, where their office is located.

It’s already made an impact. According to the Council President, enough councilors have refused to cross the picket line (including her) that today’s council meeting has been cancelled due to lack of quorum.
