True crime is everywhere—but these stories rarely explore crimes against disabled people. In this week's pod, @angryblacklady.blacksky.app and disability justice advocate @vilissathompson.bsky.social discuss how disabled victims get erased from true crime and what ethical storytelling would require.
In Mercy's Shadow: The Mercy Narrative in True Crime (Podcast)
Vilissa Thompson on erasure, ableism, and the stories true crime refuses to tell.

There is no pre-Trump world to which we can return. That has all been washed away.

And there is no near future that is not defined by him and the cataclysm of his rule.

Conservatives are using laws banning trans girls from playing sports as a vehicle to disappear women from public life entirely.

It's not about ✌🏾fairness✌🏾 or ✌🏾biological advantage✌🏾— because why are they advocating for sex segregated chess clubs.
Why Conservatives Want to Ban Trans Girls from Sports (Podcast)
Here’s a hint: It’s about opening the door to keeping all women and girls out of public life.

In which I explain that the Third Amendment—the one nobody ever talks about—allows hotels to refuse to house Kristi Noem’s ICE goons.
Opinion: Hotels Have a Constitutional Right Not To House ICE Agents
The Third Amendment prohibits the government from forcing people to “quarter” troops. ICE is essentially a paramilitary force—so why would hotels let them stay?

We need to pick up this Overton Window and throw it as far as we can. Stop waiting for shit to “be popular” and start advocating for what is transparently right.

They're not going far enough. "Rebrand." "Revamp." "Reform."

Nope. Not far enough. Needs to be permanently disbanded because who is going to enforce these reforms and extremely onerous restrictions? They're not even letting elected officials see what's going on in these concentration camps ffs
It's not just progressives. Reps Dan Goldman and Eric Swalwell also told me Dems must push for ICE defunding and extremely onerous restrictions on the agency in budget talks.

As Swalwell said: "I am not going to pay masked thugs to shoot moms in the face. Period."

Anything less than abolishing ICE is unacceptable. I don't want to hear people talk about training these motherfuckers or throwing more money at them. The entire institution needs to be permanently disbanded. Do not let politicians sell you on anything less.

Rest in power to Keith Porter who was murdered by an ICE agent in Los Angeles.

It’s terrible that his name is just now being circulated, but now that it is, continue to say his name.
Advocates want legal action after man shot and killed by off-duty ICE agent in Northridge
Advocates argue that the off-duty ICE agent wasn't trained for the situation and should have called police and waited for them to arrive.

Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

Cowardly fools. Damned us all for nothing. Didn’t get naught but a cheap song. If they were gonna cave they could’ve just done it at the start and saved folks some pain. But now they did nothing and got nothing and wasted time.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

That’s why I say keep calling.
I recognize this is, to some extent, cope/bargaining, but

this is the the first of several votes necessary to end the shutdown, right? so even the present unfathomable fecklessness doesn't mean it's over over, and there are multiple potential blockage points ahead to reject a no-concessions 'deal'?

I refuse to support a funding bill that fails to address the Republican health care crisis.

And make health insurance affordable.

The American people clearly understand the stakes and the urgency. We must too.

I'm voting no.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

If the rest don’t oust Schumer immediately, then the entire U.S. Senate sold us out. They think we’re stupid. It’s insulting.
These 8 Senators sold us out to Trump:
Hassan
King
Cortez-Masto
Shaheen
Kaine
Fetterman
Durbin
Rosen

Understand This Fact: Chuck Schumer is behind this. None of these 8 are up for reelection in 2026. Schumer asked them vote yes—they agreed. He's such a coward that he folded and won't even own it.
