You all know I've been saying FOR WEEKS that this needed to happen to strategically focus on what's happening at DHS. They need to USE this to do shadow hearings across the country, to call for the complete dismantling of ICE (yes) but also the apparatus of detention, to get local media coverage.

“But the data says we have to do something more conservative” has always been a cover for political leaders who 1) want to do something more conservative or 2) are too complacent and risk averse to try to change public opinion.
I will repeat: It is not obvious, based on the data, that campaigning on the economy in Nov would be significantly more effective than campaigning on immigration. Gov. policy is dramatically out of step with the public on immigration/deportations, and executive overreach is a potent motivator

For example, we don't want a perpetual cycle of purge and counter-purge in the civil service every time there's a new administration. But those protections can't be reestablished and strengthened until there is a purge of all the corrupt Trumpists and criminals now in place. They have to go first.

There's no return to status quo normalcy the day after Trump (or Vance) is gone. That is only the start of a period, for some years, of reconstruction to establish a new constitutional settlement. And that means, by necessity, extraordinary measures not necessarily intended to be permanent features.

Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives
This is aggravating, because on the one hand I think it's really important to give fascists an off-ramp and positive reinforcement when they use it...

...on the other hand, FUCK that guy, in particular.

Greg Bovino was seen earlier today at the Minneapolis ICE facility dressed in a very nazi-inspired outfit. They don’t even hide anymore.
