To give you an idea of how deranged the UK has become about gender stuff, here's Enid Blyton - the absolute avatar of classic English conservatism and a huge fan of racist "gollywogs" - casually describing a gender non-conforming kid in the 1940s and having their friends be totally cool with it.

Slow to catch up to this but it is, as always, a small bit of joy and a wonderful tribute to cinema.

I wish my cat enjoyed sitting on my lap as much as enjoys sitting on my lap when I have the electric blanket on.

if you ignore graphics, i think videogames have actually gotten worse over time. it used to be you could play a videogame all day and there wasnt politics to consider. now you have to go to work instead of that

I wanna cite this next time I deliver my lecture on double address in kids media
i also think it's just so important for children to experience gonzo zooming by on roller skates and yelling DIANNE WIEST, and recognize that they have seen a joke that is not for them and that's okay

Sometimes you send something you found online to a friend because you want to brighten their day, and sometimes you send something you found online to a friend with the precise attitude and bearing of a cat very carefully lining up their paw with the back of another cat's head.

I've been staying in cheap motel rooms in the South Island of New Zealand all week, all of which are bigger, more comfortable and with better hospitality than nearly any chain hotel of equivalent price I've stayed at in the UK. And the scenery is off the charts.

Didn't think I managed to get much sleep on this flight, til I checked my podcast listening history and it turns out I managed to sleep completely through about 4.5 hours of podcasts.

I love Singapore. For breakfast I had kaya toast and a cup of Michelin star coffee (kopi) from the most unassuming little stall in a food hall in Chinatown. It all cost less than £2.00 and it was amazing.

Saw Avatar 3 and thought 'I guess sitting down for that long will be good practice for my flight to Singapore in 4 days' and then realised I could watch all 3 Avatars and still have a whole Avatar's worth of flying time left 😩
