Dear neighbor,

We are seeing an increase in immigration enforcement and federal agents across South Minneapolis. This includes the sighting of Bovino at 34th and Cedar. There’s definitely an uptick compared to the last few days. 1/

my church and many other places of worship throughout the city have been forced to stop gathering in person because it's too dangerous, with no let-up in sight, directly because of this pastor's employer. Sorry that one of his services got disrupted for a minute

My governor and federal reps should be holding press confs and going on tv telling people that one of the largest school districts is closed because of a federal gov’t-led ethnic cleansing campaign run by armed, masked goons who are brutalizing citizen observers and disappearing non-white neighbors.
This is the type of thing that I want my statewide-elected and federal officials to push back against. We are seeing the creation of a pretext for bringing in troops in real time and no one with the power to get an audience is standing up for us to tell America all of it is a fiction.

This guy is smart, I’ve seen him be smart on other topics. The changing political situation and the extremely different roles and jurisdictions of responsibility are obvious differences in the two situations that he is capable of pointing out. Not sure what’s going on here.
The pivot from "Mamdani is a political genius for focusing his message almost entirely on affordability" to "Schumer is a political moron for focusing his message almost entirely on affordability" is odd.

Obviously the Greenland thing is insane and evil, but this child level analysis is not doing us any favors
Some perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump's Greenland saber-rattling. That's $750 billion of wealth destroyed -- roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland.

And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we've got nothing to show for it.

This is Minneapolis:

Some BIPOC US citizens are creating emergency plans in case of federal abduction: updating & sharing emergency contacts, getting files in order, etc.

Some are checking in w/ trusted friends: 1) when they leave home, 2) arrive, & 3) make it safely home again.

Every bus ride I take has people on it talking about the working class using its labor power to tell the government to fuck off with their fascist thugs invading our metro, this was beyond my imagination a month ago.

The twin cities’ hospitality economy is being decimated rn. Local productivity across every sector is fucked, people are tired, distracted, anxious, nervous systems fried.

This isn’t pro-business, it’s not good for GDP, it’s not making anyone safer (quite the opposite), and it’s not ending soon.

Went through the Strib homepage this morning and got sick to my stomach about how efficiently they are digesting what is happening to us and shifting the ways it’s talked about to being part of the constant culture war din that accompanies American life and not any kind of emergency or crime.

I cried about boxes yesterday.

We needed 125 boxes for mutual aid work with less than 24 hours' notice & no budget.

We put an ask out to some neighbors and a caravan of helpers brought 125+ boxes to us yesterday (this is only a fraction of them).

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.
