We *should* repeal private insurers’ tax breaks, but the money needs go to funding Medicare for all
Here is my latest for @msnbc.com, on Trump's ill-advised concept of a plan for health care, which entails repealing the ACA, and redistributing private insurers' tax breaks to the people for what would essentially amount to an HSA, which is unhelpful if not wealthy. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...
Opinion | Trump’s new plan for Obamacare leaves Americans to fend for themselves
We finally know what “concepts of a plan” looks like – and it’s not good.

If Senate Democrats don’t start the process to remove Chuck Schumer by the end of the week, all these Senators talking about how opposed they are about this week’s capitulation is all performative bullshit.

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh have developed a skin patch that can detect antibodies for COVID and flu. It’s far more sensitive than current tests, needs only a half-volt of power, and provides results in about 10 minutes.

Mike Johnson makes clear that contrary to what 8 Senate Democrats claim, the GOP congressional leadership made no commitment to hold a vote on extension of ACA benefits, and he has no expectation that a vote will ever occur.

Anyone who believes that the Senators who voted for the non-deal did so without Schumer’s consent while he votes no for show is gullible & naive. You either do this with a plan and exit strategy or you don’t do it at all. There is a disconnect between Dem voters & Sen leadership.

An essential reason to have a continuous replenishment of new, young political electeds is because they have a limited knowledge of "how it used to be" and are more open to seeing things how they are.

This was Biden's big problem; he couldn't believe the current GOP wasn't his like his old buddies.

I wrote about the "Appeasement Eight" Senate Democrats getting the party to fold to Trump in the government shutdown, and why it shows that pro-democracy Americans badly need a real opposition party, full of leaders who recognize the United States isn't a normal rule of law democracy anymore.
Democrats Have to Get Out of a Normal Democracy Mindset
By folding in the government shutdown in exchange for virtually nothing, eight Democratic senators aid Trump's authoritarian takeover rather than oppose it

Codifying the Constitution’s Emoluments Clauses
To prevent corruption, the Constitution prohibits the president and other officials from receiving untoward benefits. Congress, however, must take action to enable enforcement.
