"[T]he big picture is not as much about preventing suicide as it is about planning life and fostering social connectedness — which, in and of themselves, are major preventative factors."

I am not always very attached to being alive
Chronic, passive suicidal ideation is like living in the ocean. Let’s start talking about how to tread water.

"I'm hoping it leads to improvements in diagnosis because depression has become sort of a catch all illness. It is often unhelpfully heterogeneous to the point that like you could have very different, you know, symptoms and be classified with the same illness."

4) *Even if* it were true that people had no choice but to "vote for Carney" (it's not), it would not follow in any way that we have to just accept whatever he does once elected. Quite the opposite: if it was a "lesser evil" vote, then we should be pushing hard for better (less bad?) policies.

Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

I love Rebecca DOWN. Known as Dollar Tree Dinners.

Her “Meal in a Bag” is meant to provide ppl with a complete meal that is $8 or less, is shelf stable, & can be made without access to a full kitchen. I love this as a direct aid option. Good for neighbors & elders who can’t/wont go to a pantry.

The earliest known example of ‘brain rot’ comes from Henry David Thoreau in his 1854 book “Walden.”

“While England endeavors to cure the potato-rot, will not any endeavor to cure the brain-rot, which prevails so much more widely and fatally?”

Still can't believe Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry are dating. I just have so many questions. What do they talk about. What are their mutual hobbies. Is she going to write a song after him called "I Kissed Trudeau And Pierre Hated It" stuff like that

You know what is a weird thing I miss about regular TV seasons?

Obligatory seasonal holiday episodes.

Like, no one dropping 8 episodes in July is going to give you an unhinged Halloween ep, a totally inappropriate murder on Christmas ep, and probably some weird Valentine's Day nonsense.

Stop with the cutsie friend who’s too woke jokes. Stop with the it’s not that deep, that’s a reach, etc. Get off your ass and walk the talk. Stick your neck out. Actually dare to be unpopular, if you want common fucking decency to be in vogue again.

It’s especially ridiculous because you don’t get to be one of the highest selling pop stars without contributing to the culture you exist in. She’s not some small indie, she’s selling out massive stadiums. If that doesn’t warrant criticism or cultural analysis than nothing does

Some of this also stems from fandom purity politics. even saying "this album wasn't for me" could result in doxxing and surveillance (vigilante shit indeed!).

Fandoms internalize surveillance mechanisms, removing nuanced "authenticity" from the cultural act of listening and engaging.

absolutely breathtaking levels of “reframe punching up as punching down” are emerging in AI discourse. fighting back against AI is us against billion dollar tech companies, yet they are pulling out so many wild rhetorical tricks to make it seem like the anti-AI movement are the powerful bullies here
“don’t be bigoted towards AI.”

your AI data centers are poisoning Black communities as we speak, please get some fucking perspective. jesus christ

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵
