Speaker Johnson: "This is not a regime change. This is a demand for a change of behavior by a regime...We don't expect direct involvement in any other way beyond just coercing the new interim government to get that going."

The first thing the U.S. did after abducting Maduro was making sure his regime remains in power. Today, seven Venezuelan reporters were arrested by the regime in Caracas.

This is not, never was and never will be about democracy and freedom for Venezuela.

Since Zohran Mamdani took office, the US has conducted an illegal invasion of Venezuela, bellicosely threatened to do the same in Greenland, and launched proceedings against Sen. Mark Kelly for exercising his First Amendment rights. At what point does the Left admit it made a grievous mistake?

what a lot of people don’t understand is that there is a good chance that the higher echelons of the fascist administration is majority staffed with anti-NATO groypers and christian nationalists. This is an additional positive to invading Greenland, not a negative.

The main difference between Iraq and Venezuela is that in February 2003 there were no already-existing nongovernmental armed forces that could switch to insurgency but in Venezuela there's already paramilitary groups ready to go (not to mention Colombian guerrillas that rejected peace)
The developing line on Venezuela in some online MAGA spaces is that this regime change effort will work because--unlike Iraq and Afghanistan--there are no Muslims there. Truly incredible justification of a new war by the "peace president," no notes.

Rubio is claiming that they did not need Congress permission because it was a law enforcement mission. The US is behaving as a global police state, extending its own arbitrary legal decisions to the whole world.

This is not a problem just for Venezuela.

Between 1898 and 1994, the US intervened 41 times in Latin America to change governments. Of these interventions, 17 were direct (funding armed groups, deploying US forces, etc.) and 24 were indirect, that is, when the existing government would likely have survived in the absence of US “hostility.”

That Iraq was somehow more lawful than this is truly a testimony to our failure as an opposition.
