Having normal and healthy friendships with women. I’m not joking
Good morning Bluesky. What's the most ridiculous thing that you've been told is "gay"? Or at least "gay when a man does it"?
I'll start: birthday parties.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that a big piece of Mamdani’s campaign was simply “cities are cool and lots of people enjoy living in them” which in and of itself dismantles alot of rightwing talking points

It warms my heart to see families bike together with them.
what I love about e-bikes and the world of small electric mobility is that it is a full scale transportation revolution no one saw coming but that nonetheless has the power to address air pollution death & illness, climate change, traffic violence, affordability, and also social isolation & anxiety

This. 💥 Bravo to Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew for stopping & to the Speaker for asking Premier Kinew to ensure the offensive remark was recorded in Hansard, in perpetuity. (The Opposition is so because they wouldn't search for the remains of murdered Indigenous women.)

Not my city obviously, but I was just talking with my partner recently more or less about how reactionary anti-urban attitudes span the political spectrum
Perks’ motion to delete the plan for expanded retail permissions within neighbourhoods CARRIES with only Matlow opposed. (In favour: Perks, Bradford, Crisanti, Myers, Nunziata.)
But the proposal for expanded retail permissions on “major streets” does go forward to Council for consideration.

Every time a pundit says ‘woke’ they should be asked to define it. On the spot before anyone can move on with the discussion. Every single time
David Quinn (who else) on Brendan O'Connor show now, dominating the discussion. FG rep says we need to connect with young people. DQ says you need to connect with people like me, he says FG 'too woke'.
Can see where this narrative is heading.

Exclusive: Special rapporteur for poverty cites mainstream parties’ ‘extremely dangerous’ them-or-us dialogue
Decades of efforts by mainstream politicians to roll back welfare programmes have given rise to an “extremely dangerous” discourse that has helped fuel the rise of the far right and rightwing populists in countries around the world, a top UN expert has told the Guardian.
From London to Lisbon, politicians from centre-right and centre-left parties alike have steadily eroded social programmes, fostering a sense of scarcity and creating fertile ground for the stirring up of anti-migrant sentiment, said Olivier De Schutter, the UN special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights. In Canada we have McKinsey fixing the bread prices of crappy bread
One thing I am always reminded that Europe does unambiguously better than the US: bread. You can find bread as good as anything in Europe in the states but it’s hard. Every country in continental Europe I’ve ever been to makes high quality bread stupidly cheap and available.
