Ok, Ireland is not full but my starter packs 1 & 2 are!

So here's a third and *final* one from me (felt too guilty ignoring people asking to be added! This one is not full... yet).

Tús maith, leath na hoibre!

I'm writing about the Palestine Action hunger strikers at the moment, any of whom could die at any moment, and the astonishing media and government silence surrounding them. The Establishment seems to have become even crueller than when Thatcher was PM.

Big Oil spent nearly $100M to get Trump elected in 2024.

Now Trump is returning the favor, giving them advance notice of his Venezuela attack and sending their stocks skyrocketing by promising them control of the country's oil reserves.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

One of the people the USA killed in Venezuela was Rosa Gonzalez, 80 who they blew up in her apartment.

Will you hear this on the European News?

I doubt it.

This is relevant to the Irish Government's response too.

You can't just say "respect for international law" and not say whether it's been broken or not by a party you won't even name.
Yes, I don’t think there’s a “love actually” moment here. But issuing a statement specifically pointing towards international law and then not commenting on whether you think this follows it is just woeful comms, and surely pretty weak on the substance too.

For a "militarily but not politically neutral" country which depends on a rules based international order, this is incredibly weak stuff

Whatever you might think of Maduro, the seizure and kidnapping of a head of state takes us to a very dark place. Vast, arbitrary, extra-legal power, which could be exercised almost anywhere, regardless of the character of the target government.

So when we hear our government paving the way for us to give up our neutrality, we should ask whose side do you want us to be on exactly? A fascist rogue US?

#SpeirGorm
We need to do something about our over reliance on US FDI #SpeirGorm Will Micheál Martin condemn the attack on Venezuela or does he think it would be merely “performative” like he does with the Occupied Territories Bill?

Blimey. It’s one thing to engineer the circumstances of a coup, quite another to abduct the president and evacuate him from the country

Narrator: ‘Musk's Grok AI bot was not fixing anything because only gullible tech journalists would believe it could do that. “Fixing it” was the job of humans who should have been facing time in prison.’

A real news outlet publishing the phrase "Grok apologized" should result in like a week-long timeout. Think about what you've done.

All that is missing is political will.

Climate Action & Green Transition is good for people, the economy, & obviously the planet.

When Micheál Martin says we can't mitigate against #climatechange & when the gov cancel public transport or back LNG, it's not for the benefit of Ireland.

A thing I think about a lot is how the hyper powerful and tech billionaires want to be seen as people saving humanity, which is why they create space companies to send us to Mars and invest in gen AI to render us more "productive"

And yet, not a single one is working to solve climate change.
January 2, 2026 at 10:01 PM
ugh.
A likely end result of the Grok stuff is going to be a top-down push for widespread normalization of CSAM, nonconsensual imagery, and pedophilia long before there’s any consideration of holding the people and systems involved accountable or legally regulating them.

Child exploitation content on X/Twitter sharply increased under Musk, who not only abruptly disbanded the group of volunteer experts advising the platform on child safety, image exploitation, and other abuses in 2022, but tried to blame them for the company's CSAM problem www.npr.org/2022/12/12/1...

Very disappointed to see that my local TDs (Gary Gannon, Marie Sherlock, Mary Lou McDonald). are still supporting Twitter by posting there. At what point does the need for followers outweigh the misinformation, abuse and facilitation of child sex abuse material? #SpeirGorm

Taken together, these wins tell a clear story

Renewables keep getting cheaper💚

Fossil fuel projects keep losing in court ⚖️

& grassroots pressure keeps translating into real limits on extraction✊

The setbacks are real, but so is the momentum, built month by month by people who refuse to give up!

Despite all the gloom, this thread shows there are wins in climate action and a lot worth fighting for.

@foeireland.bsky.social

#ClimateAction
This year has been brutal for the #climate movement.

Rollbacks, repression, & outright denial, especially in the US, have made progress feel fragile & uneven.

Which is exactly why it matters to pause & look back at what did move forward in 2025.

Here are 12 real wins 🏆, one for each month 🧵⬇️

This thread… we should never forget.
It’s been 6 yrs since my sister rang me about the respiratory illness that she and her colleagues in respiratory medicine, were terrified of. That’s the last time I knew that version of her, the next 18 months traumatised her forever. I know the world had to move on, but its hard to see the erasure
