Reading about love (bell hooks) and reflecting about it, I concluded that I don't have neither self love nor self hate, but some kind of self annoyance. That is my take of today.

Travelling to the UK in spring every other year: came with spring clothes and felt cold. This year, I came prepared for cold/rain and it will be 24 degrees and sunny in Liverpool this afternoon. And I will be in black. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Does anyone know any texts that apply Graeber's interpretation of the role of debt to the fall of Roman Empire Yarvin's (awful, eugenic, and despicable) ideal of ultra libertarian city-states?

Totally random thought, but I would like to know if someone has written about it

Curtailing people’s ability to read widely and carefully, to locate, assess, and compare different sources for themselves, and to write in their own voice about what they find and what it means, is arguably more effective than censorship. It is also one of the most obvious effects of generative AI.

In my view, this is also an aesthetic (or rather: anesthetic) effect of AI slop and #PlatformRealism: it makes the most horrible and unimaginable things look like something mundane and commonplace, it gives images promoting abhorrent crimes the look of holiday cards and cheap clickbait ads

Me in private communication between co-authors: this f%*!@ing reviewer is a pain, answered this &##hole already.

Me to the reviewer: thank you for pointing this out. We apologize for not making it clear in the previous version. We have now restructured the whole argument based on what you said.

Genuinely couldn't believe this figure until I saw the Financial Times confirm it using Meta's own financial reporting data

For THIS

$100 billion is genuinely the kind of money you could "do the impossible" with. Crack nuclear fusion. HIV vaccine. Universal flu vaccine

And they spent it on this
Meta has spent over $100 billion on VR.

Based on (the little) I read about coups and what I am seeing now: It takes time to build support for political coups and authoritarianism. But when one gets it, then things happen from one day to another, with just some dudes saying: 'Give me that' with very little immediate resistance.

With all that is going on right now in the US, I would very much like to see consumer research/marketing journal editors making the statement that research about gender, intersectionality and LGBTQIA+ issues is more relevant than ever and welcomed in their journals.

Anyone?

It's amazing that DEI is something corporate consultants came up with to keep their clients from getting sued and now CEOs themselves are freaking out over how it's reverse racism, it's like if your mom was scared of the bogeyman

Local consumption is super important for communities and the environment. And yet, there are several challenges for fostering it. In this @theconversation.com piece, we explore some of them, after a project with Reims Commerce: theconversation.com/au-coeur-des...

Her: Why did you leave these cranberries out?

Me: DON’T TOUCH THEM!!!

Her: What…Why???

Me: You have to let them linger.
