I'm sad and angry about what's happened over there, but I love the positive and pro-social vibe here at Bluesky. I think it is past time for me to introduce myself properly.

In 2009, I told my husband that I was pregnant with our third child. “Wow,” he said. “We’re going to need a bigger car.”

A safe streets and youth independence anthem

"Walk with me, Suzy Lee
Through the park and by the tree
We will rest upon the ground
And look at all the bugs we found
Safely walk to school without a sound...

Here we are, no one else
We walk to school all by ourselves...'

The joy of youth.

So let's talk about the bike valet.

I have very rarely used the service and I still think it's a hugely important program.

It's a safe bike parking option. But it does so much more in terms of placemaking and community building.

I say, let's just pay some more taxes to keep having these great programs.

The City of #Victoria staff have released their 2026-2030 Draft Financial Plan. It seems that in order to comply with Council’s direction to keep property tax increases to 4% or less, staff are recommending axing the bike valet and Youth Bus Pass programs?? And hoping the CRD will pick up the tab???

I have been trying to raise awareness about the recent cuts to pandemic preparedness by provincial institutions in BC for the past 1½ months. Most of the cuts were not announced to the public beforehand and media coverage has been scant. 1/?

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

Introducing Ozzy! This prehensile-tailed porcupine, Zoo Boise's newest resident, is already becoming a star. 🌠

Settling into the renovated Small Animal Kingdom's Rainforest Building, Ozzy likes to nimbly climb and flip around his habitat’s canopy.

Brutal loss. Gutting. But a brilliant season for the Jays and an all-timer World Series. A stunner of a team.

Bring it home next year.

Cuomo hates New York. Mamdani loves it.
Watching local morning tv at the hospital while my mom gets her cataract dealt with, and I can report that Cuomo has fewer ads up than Mamdani and Sliwa, and that Cuomo’s ads are real bleak. Bleak and angry.
