Everybody at the railway station was mesmerised. Like a rock star was using public transport.

It doesn’t take much to knock us off our normal day and instil some glamour.
A man looks up at the roof of the railway station. Out of focus is the shape of a large raptor. The man has whistled. The man had turned half way round, steadying himself. One hand stays by his side; it is out of sight and out of the way. His other hand, in a heavy medieval glove, is raised up. The raptor, still out of focus, is airborne. The gloved hand higher now. The raptor is suddenly in focus, its wings outstretched like a large ancient bible has suddenly been flung open in the air. Talons reach out; the man curls his fingers into a protective fist. In the background passengers risk missing their train to stop and watch. The raptor is on the man’s gloved hand, his beak sharp into the gloved hand for its treat.

On my latest youtube video I talk about indie bookstores and the indie writer. There is some bad advice floating on the booktubes (from a small press publisher who should know better) about not working with bookstores, calling it a waste of money.

Is it though? I don't think so.

Today has been staggering. The news, my god. I found peace in a couple of moments: one, in my yoga practice; another while reading about an artist I admire very much. I hope everyone can have a moment or two of calm to sustain themselves. I’m sorry to say, we’re in this for the long haul.
