I heard from a bunch of federal employees last night and this morning. They aren't happy.

This is my favorite part of this cycle we've been repeating for my entire adult life: when they sit backwards on the chair for some real talk and explain that you're a fucking peasant who doesn't understand how things work.

Because, we The People (dullards) cannot possibly figure this out as we stare vacantly at our circuses. And those of us that might figure it out will chuckle and nudge each other and exclaim "smart ol' Chuck really got us with that one" and move on with out jobs at the sausage paper factory.
The thing @schumer.senate.gov appears to be doing where he gets everybody who’s retiring or was just sworn in to a six-year term to vote yes so he and a bunch more moderates can vote “no” to appear more progressive than they are is so insulting lol

Thinking of Diane Feinstein using this line on elementary school students who were visiting her and asking her to please do something about climate change.

So let me get this straight...
Democrats just made a whole bunch of federal employees amongst many others suffer for nothing tangible?
And caved right after an election they needed to look good for and before the cuts effect their holiday travel?
Wow.

@baldwin.senate.gov if you vote for this deal you might as well resign and get that cushy lobbying gig in washington you've been waiting for because you're definitely not welcome in Milwaukee. I can't speak for the rest of the state but that vote is a career ender here.

The only way to argue against this is to imagine there are voters who will walk into a polling place one year from now with “the Democrats ended the shutdown last year and saved my Thanksgiving travel plans” at the forefront of their minds, which, I’m sorry, is not a real thing.
This is why you DON'T stop the shutdown. Clearly the voters know who's responsible for the shutdown and now it's gonna be even worse. Since the news isn't willing to be honest with Americans about what Trump was and is, this will have to do so they can get the message.

Nope. I have absolutely no use for it.
I know people who use it hurry up drudgery at work and i get it.
I feel bad for people who think they're creating something meaningful with it.
And I'm frightened for any children who rely on it for any sense of self worth.

Hands up if you've never used Chat GPT ✋
(I feel like Dozer and Tank in The Matrix right now - at first I didn't use it because, rather ironically, I'm lazy and stubborn (peak Taurus energy there) - literally no, don't make me use the new thing I don't wanna. Now I'm glad I didn't 😅)

Probably a good way to tell right now if the job you’re applying for is run by absolute dumbfucks is to ask if they’re using AI.

My god... I'm with Bill Kristol. The man might become a transcendent political figure if he were to whole-heartedly apologize for what he helped do to Iraq and that region. Apologize in a steve albini way and try to make right.

Mamdani's hero is LaGuardia. He just mentioned him again. And I maintain he has more in common with New Dealers than socialists. But you can't responsibly write about him without writing about the Milwaukee "sewer socialists" of 1910-60. Nothing he says is new, only the applications.
