yearly reminder to people insisting that we view Christopher Columbus as "a man of his time" that *the people responsible for the Spanish Inquisition* thought Columbus was out of pocket
Christopher Columbus was dragged back to Spain in chains by a crusading knight, convicted of tyranny and immeasurable cruelty, pardoned by Isabella but banned from returning to Hispaniola.
Fuck Columbus.

We built a calculator that doesn't work, but don't worry, it's also a plagiarism machine that will tell you to kill yourself. It runs on the world's oceans and costs 10 trillion dollars.

"The man who is not yet mayor is to blame for a shooting that happened under the watch of an ex-cop mayor who's thrown every available dollar at the NYPD," insists sex pest
Monday’s mass shooting may put concerns over gun violence back on voters’ minds, and have already lead some to scrutinize Mr. Mamdani for his views on policing. “He clearly does not understand what public safety is all about,” said Cuomo w/ @emmagf.bsky.socialwww.nytimes.com/2025/07/29/n...

I mean what can you even say anymore, NYT is dead, WaPo is dead, do I hate that we have to get all our news from newsletters and individual reporters and blogs called Boozy Hamster and vet all that shit individually? Yes absolutely it’s very inconvenient, but how can you trust any other way nowadays
NEW: NYT Executive Editor Joe Kahn spoke about the Mamdani article at his daily meeting with top editors this morning, praising both the story and the reporting process, a Times source tells me. He also praised Assistant Managing Editor Pat Healy’s explanation of the situation that he posted on X.

There was essentially zero coverage of the disabled protest to stop Medicaid cuts. Capitol police dragged protesters out, many in wheelchairs, and arrested 34 people. It was barely a blip on the news because nobody really cares about the disabled.

hey remember when a rich ceo died then when they caught the suspect they made a circus of it like they found osama bin laden and charged him with terrorism but less than weeks ago two democrat lawmakers and their spouses were shot as literal assassination to shift control and everyone already forgot

Democrats are racking their brains trying to find the "Joe Rogan of the left" while doing everything they can to defeat people like Zohran Mamdani and AOC, who actually possess the skills they're so desperately looking for.
the thing with Mamdani is that he’s obviously an incredible political talent - the campaign he’s run has been extremely impressive even if you don’t like his policies
the party should be delighted, and that they’re instead pulling out all the stops to beat him speaks volumes

Reporter: Five fellow mayoral candidates came here within 90 minutes of you being arrested and called for your release. What does that say about the tenor of the mayor's race?
In response to a Q from @maxrn.bsky.social, Lander said: "This is a critical time to have a mayor who will stand up to ICE and stand up to Donald Trump... I am very grateful to the other mayoral candidates who came out here to call for my release and I really hope New Yorkers will elect one of us."
