right, so i want to profile ECRs in early christianity/late antiquity you should follow, in no particular order.

follow @chancebonar.bsky.social. his work on slavery in the ancient world is really, really sharp and does some much-needed mythbusting. check out this teachable public-facing piece:
Dismantling the myth that ancient slavery ‘wasn’t that bad’
There was no one type of slavery in ‘biblical’ or ‘ancient’ societies, given how varied they were. But much of what historians know about slavery during those eras is horrific.

I have to put up something for a first post, so why not? This quilt, finished just a few weeks ago, is one of my proudest achievements. It’s called “Wrath”. It’s based on my very favorite poem, Homer’s Iliad.

Take it from a librarian, the smallest things count! Website traffic, social media likes, newsletter sign-ups - this is vital data, evidence we use to prove that we are needed. And of course, every item you borrow, every resource you use, every program you drop in on ACTIVELY helps us.
Public libraries remain one of the best things ever about this country. Support your local libraries, friends.
This went great! VERY engaged audience!

I love doing library events.

The Lives of Ancient Villages
When I put out my summer reading list back in May, Matt Simonton chimed in on social media that I would be blown away by Peter Thonemann's recent book, The Lives of Ancient Villages (CUP 2022). I didn...

"Men say, "we're so lonely." Well, you might be lonely because you suck to be around."
Divorce is usually framed like a tragedy. The dirty secret: A lot of women find life on the other side is a beautiful thing.

I spoke with @lyzl about her new book celebrating divorce.

Great counterpoint to all the pressure on women to get married!

This is incredible.
For the last time and maybe the first time on bluesky, I'm going to make a big thread about the Quarantrain because it's time to take it down. It's sitting unused, taking up space. Building it was a childhood dream and I got it out of my system. I'm proud of it and want the memory to remain. (1/?)

Years ago now I had a terrible experience with an edited volume. The first PR I got back was terribly sexist and hostile to any theory. I demanded two more PRs. I waited 18 months. Never got anything but that awful one... 1/
