The obvious, the silly, and the true had got to be defended. Truisms are true, hold on to that!

A seeming bit of history tonight as Ghazala Hashmi becomes the first Asian American to win statewide office in Virginia - and the first Muslim woman to win statewide office *anywhere* in the United States.

it also ensures that we will pass the equality act, the for the people act, and more when dems/libs have a trifecta.
If they eliminate the filibuster, it means national bans on gender affirming care, bathroom bans, a sports ban, gender marker bans, elimination of legal recognition etc. It will make life unlivable for trans people in the US, even in blue states. It's a worst case scenario.
Trump: “…BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE GONE STONE COLD “CRAZY,” THE CHOICE IS CLEAR — INITIATE THE “NUCLEAR OPTION,” GET RID OF THE FILIBUSTER AND, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

So we want the Democratic Party to defend rights that they can’t defend because they don’t have institutional power to defend said rights? Like you hear yourself right.

If we don’t have a large enough Senate majority, you can’t do anything.
What concerns me is not that Democrats will compromise on something like trans athletes--that question is at SCOTUS now and thus beyond their reach anyway. What concerns me is that I hear far more about what rights of mine they're willing to sacrifice and very little about what rights they'll defend

Well, and apologies, he's not saying much of anything.
MacCallum: "Charlie said, 'There is no such thing as hate speech.'"

Trump: "He might not be saying that now."

I cannot stress this enough: THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED FUCKING STATES NEEDS TO KNOW THINGS
MacCALLUM: Do you believe that there is a vast terrorist movement in the United States that's responsible for Charlie Kirk's killing and the attempts on your life?

TRUMP: You never know, do you. And we'll find out. In the meantime, we're gonna do a big thing with respect to antifa.

What is the other option? War? Perpetual violence?

I guess I don't find this critique to be compelling because you aren't presenting an alternative to learning to live together. In this moment, it is vital that we start listening to and talking with, not at, one another.
Klein earnestly believes we all have to learn to live together even if we "believe different things." For him, it's ONLY about belief and opinion. He is not in a category in which his reproductive rights would be abridged, his marriage would be nullified, his accomplishments dismissed as "DEI." >

He used his "christian motivational speeches" as a cover for his bigotry, racism, and hatred. And far too many christians either didn't care, couldn't tell, or agreed with him.

Forgive me if I don't need to listen to his christian motivational speeches to understand who Charlie Kirk was.
This is interesting, but like, these two realities of kirk are not nearly on even footing.

Goebbels had 6 kids and apparently, I've learned on Bluesky this week, "made a great strudel."

Its much more important to know their horrors than the times they did something nice.

The next Democratic president should declare that the National Emergencies Act and Article II of the Constitution allow him to:

•admit D.C. and Puerto Rico as states
•abolish ICE
•grant citizenship to any immigrant
•disband the 5th Circuit
•expand the Supreme Court

Seriously: Why the hell not?

Yeah, I'm never voting for Buttigieg even if he's the nominee. This is a bright line for me. You cave on trans issues and lend credence to bigots, it's over. I'm not letting the Dems go down the path of Labour.
