The first time I ever felt seen as a victim of child sexual abuse was while reading the novel "Strega" by Andrew Vachss. It'd never occurred to me before reading it that anyone in the world cared what had been done to me, because no one up to that point even pretended to. 1/3

I saw this coming. They we're always going to do this because it's what they've always done when the victim is imperfect, or the perpetrator is one of them: play word games qualifying abuse and exploitation to make it sound like something else.

There's a joke-not-joke I tell whenever someone tries to well ackshually me on this subject. "You know an ephebophile is? A pedophile with a thesaurus."

I'm not hearing any of the excuses adults make for sexually exploiting children at any age. GFTOHWT!
Okay, so, we’re all going to have to agree that it’s wrong to have sex with children. Like, if you don’t agree with me inside your own head, you should keep that inside until you tell a therapist. Also, people who defend pedophiles can not be trusted with your children. At all. AT ALL. EVERRRRRRRRR.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I simply refuse to accept that police ever have to look like this. this is just pure cosplay. it should be illegal for cops to be dressed like soldiers going to war.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

My son is chatting online with his friends about Fortnight and keeps saying he should get the Doug Berman skin. I'm like, NPR's Doug Berman? Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me's Benevolent Overlord!? I go into his room to ask WTF and I see that it is a bread-dog named, "Doughberman." @petersagal.bsky.social

Enforced positivity serves the same purpose as politeness in our society. Just as Charlie Kirk was apparently entitled to say whatever vile thing he wanted so long as it was said “politely” -

- So does enforced positivity force a deflection from the very real pain someone is feeling, and its cause.
Please stop telling me to smile, 'think positively', or to 'stop being depressed'. If it were that easy, I wouldn't still be in therapy or taking psych meds. I can't smile away a chemical imbalance or decades of complex trauma

OK, he assaulted the girl, but here's the thing: all my grousing about protecting kids was just a way to persecute groups I hate. I actually dgaf about child safety. Like, at all.

7) Michael Moorcock deserves a statue.

Dude is still alive and writing. Whichever town he's adopted should build a black sword about thirty feet high engraved with runes that casts a shadow like an enormous sundial counting down to the end of days.

I want to have this man's children. Wait. I mean, I love this deep dive on Frankenstein. It's amazing!
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is not about "playing God" – it's a timeless parable about human responsibility grappling with environmentalism, feminism, liberation politics, sexuality, birth, death, and family. Let's rediscover the true radicalism of this masterpiece of horror.

I love this man's work, particularly in Sword of Doom, one of my favorite movies. It's wonderful to me that I got to live for a while at the same time as him.
absolutely devastated to learn of Nakadai Tatsuya's passing. for the past 20 years, he has been on a *very* short list of my favourite actors of all time. a truly incomparable thespian.

Even if they DID have a long term plan here, it doesn't matter. They're incapable of messaging it, they've earned no trust from any of us to believe they 1) want to win 2) know how to win, or 3) have the will to win.

And they've been abusing the folks we DO believe in for years.

I was talking about exactly this with my in-laws yesterday, saying that it'd be holiday travel that would break this because perish the thought an airline company loses money! I thought I was being glib but I guess it was more that I know what to expect from these ghouls: money over people, always.
