The first time I ever felt seen as a victim of child sexual abuse was while reading the novel "Strega" by Andrew Vachss. It'd never occurred to me before reading it that anyone in the world cared what had been done to me, because no one up to that point even pretended to. 1/3

Can you see where this is going? Back then I was whatever you'd call a Scots Weeaboo, so I picked a big ornate piece out of a knotwork pattern book. It seemed most emblematic to me of the connection I wanted. Not being Christian, I rationalized it afterwards as an "ancestral wheel." 2/13

I learned this version is called the "Two-Week" edition because there was a huge (understandable) controversy over the cover. Ballantine stopped the press run after just over a week. Apparently, fewer than a 1,000 copies were printed. Also, the author's notes passages are printed in red!

I'd intended to make a gift of this edition of The Princess Bride for my wife, but after seeing what it goes for online realized, I can't afford that. Instead she just to look at it. Through the Mylar bag. I showed it to a friend online, and he INSTANTLY offered me that money for it.
