Reintroduction thread:

Yeah, I'm this guy.
I also saw BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM in the theater, but my biggest flex is seeing EXCALIBUR when it came out. I was way too young!
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

R.I.P. James Van Der Beek. I know he's been in a ton of things, but I'll always remember him from this absolutely hilarious Kesha music video.

Not only does Rep. Ro Khanna name names on the floor of the House, he gives a great speech. And he's right to ask: Why did Trump's FBI protect these men, and who else are they protecting?

A friendly reminder that my new collection MONUMENTS IN DARKNESS is available in paperback and e-book! I think it contains some of my very best short work, and I'm extremely proud. Its publication also marked my 25th anniversary as a professionally published author. I hope you'll give it a read!

Interesting news! I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of THE TALISMAN (only because I read it too late in life for it to resonate), and I didn't love BLACK HOUSE, but I'm still intrigued.

Friends have been recommending STRANGE DARLING to me since it came out in 2024, and now I see why. It's a very well made film, tricky in all the right ways. I was able to guess the twist early on, but I still enjoyed the journey. Craig DeLeon's score is amazing; a dark and suspenseful soundscape.

TIL when the late Harlan Ellison wrote a script that was rewritten in a way he didn't like, such as the pilot episode of THE STARLOST, he would tell them to credit the pseudonym Cordwainer Bird.

Cordwainer because he was a fan of author Cordwainer Smith.

Bird because he was flipping them the bird.

I liked THE BLACK PHONE, but I didn't love it. What made it work for me were the performances, particularly Ethan Hawke as the Grabber. As it turns out, I liked BLACK PHONE 2 a lot more. It's slow, but it's more interesting. And it goes hard on the gore!

Insane, and not at all accurate.
This is the Yale professor's explanation for why he described the physical attractiveness of a student in an email to Epstein. He explicitly says he regrets nothing about their association.

Again, I'm so happy Yale hired David Brooks to restore trust.
