Still can't believe this happened! One of my favorite things about 2024 was playing with Love Child again after a 31 year hiatus, and this took the cake. Huge gratitude to @actualylt.bsky.social, whose set with Marc Ribot was transcendent. Still smiling about the surprise appearance by Swamp Dogg.

They killed a woman & called her a fucking bitch. Then, they killed a man for protecting a woman they likely wanted to murder and call her a fucking bitch, too.

ICE KIDNAPPED four innocent children and trafficked them to a concentration camp in Texas.

These euphemisms have to die.

Learning this lesson over and over again: the complete dumbness of everything breaking my brain (today it’s ICE and Greenland). People can’t possibly be this stupid. But apparently they can.

Got a recent request from a health insurer to help a third party vendor to "find out if someone else...is responsible for the cost" for a recent procedure. OH HELL NO. Help a third party to find a reason to deny my claim for a legit health expense? This needs to be regulated out of existence.

Where is ICE agent John E. Ross? Somebody who just shot someone in the face three times for no good reason is a danger to society and should be in jail awaiting arraignment. That he is not in jail right now at a time when SO many people are for doing so much less is disgusting to me.

A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

🧵In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7

Recent innovation of which I approve: the 30-minute middle school holiday concert. These were interminable back in the day.

Brilliant from @adamserwer.bsky.social: the Roberts Court's attack on the Reconstruction Amendments are "consistent with the Antebellum Constitution’s narrow definition of who “We the People” are."

Here are some legal historians exploring the Antebellum Const.

@jessethorn.bsky.social on making his company worker-owned:“The thing about worker ownership is that it is demonstrably studied by economists, more sustainable, because workers are interested in sustainability. They're not interested in risk and infinite growth.” A path beyond the VC tech hellscape.

@julianbrash.bsky.social Just a word of appreciation for _Bloomberg's New York_--still think about it a lot. Used a chapter in my History of New York City course I taught at Brooklyn College and the students really got it. The TCC and its emphasis on dealmaking resonates now more than ever.

Citizenship in the US has never been a simple binary, encompassing a complex array of rights and privileges unevenly distributed. @unlawfulentries.bsky.social breaks down the historical evolution of citizenship in her forthcoming book, distilling a central argument in the thread below. Please read!

The great irony is it took electing an utterly bereft hateful racist and corrupt scumbag twice to help people realize this. Immigration is the defining characteristic of the US.
This is extremely important

Reminded of that guy who wrote an exposé about students claiming they had ADHD and getting extra time in tests when "maybe they didn't all need it" and the article was just every professional he spoke to desperately trying to explain to him that this was fine actually and the best they could do.

Immigration enforcement is usually thought of as a federal issue, but ICE's work is intertwined with state law in a number of ways. @aliciabannon.bsky.social examines recent state litigation WI, NY, and CA that will shape the relationship between ICE and the states & localities in which it operates.
State Challenges to Immigration Enforcement Practices
Recent lawsuits in Wisconsin, New York, and California explore questions about the role of state law in federal immigration enforcement.
