this is the really ineffective head-in-the-sand reaction a lot of folks on Bluesky tend to have if you talk about any harm reduction-based approach to the reality that millions of people are using AI tools today. The current approach to critiquing AI is obviously not working, but they don't care.

Bluesky itself *exists* because people broadly understood that social media then, as with AI now, was having a wide variety of negative effects on society. So teaching people about less damaging approaches had a lot of value and has been effective in giving millions of people better alternatives.

The more I think about it the less surprising it is that most "software engineers" get such reportedly poor results from using LLMs to assist them in coding: they're famously *terrible* communicators as a whole.

Just want to point out a serious regionalism that still divides this country, which is that a lot of white people who grew up in the Eastern time zone have extra special fear and terror about Spanish. Alex, Megyn, and Matt are NJ, NY, and MD respectively.

Charleston has bad vibes in part because South Carolina has uniquely Hitlerian whites even in comparison to every other Southern state. I think it’s the combination of not having any real metro areas + richer than AL/MS + migration filtering.
I've been to lots of cities around the world and the most "haunted by the spectres of their pasts" vibes I've gotten were in Phnom Penh (where you can still see ex-Khmer Rouge hanging out) and Charleston, where it feels like slavery's evils are in every single cobblestone and grand old structure
