Every day I'm further radicalized into never playing a AAA game ever again.
This is complete horseshit and a huge blow to the Halifax games industry.

Sending thoughts to all the good folks impacted by this.
Ubisoft shuttering freshly-unionised Halifax studio, 71 jobs affected
The studio is the latest to be hit by the company's ongoing cutbacks.

Been messing with the Dragon Quest 1 remake over the break and there's no denying a lot of work went into it but I can't help but feel that something's been lost in how much has been added. Theres a flattening in making all 3 remakes look and feel the same that erases what makes each of them special

Well I wrote my first written review of 2026 (on Baby Steps), but it feels too self indulgent (and long) to post on Steam. I really need to find a new blog option.
A resolution for the new year is to write more. I don't love the structure of steam reviews but I also don't have anywhere to publish my work and practice my writing. So here's some thoughts on Owlboy

The level of vigilance required for every. single. thing. right now is exhausting and it's absolutely the AI industry's mission to wear everyone down into submission.
But...
While we're at it can we just keep Uber Eats in the bin where it belongs.
We’re entering the age of AI slop that people believe en masse.

This post is 100% fake and probably AI generated. All made up. Yet massive number of upvotes, views and shares.

I appreciate games writing and criticism but much of it exists in a bubble. The thing I appreciate about Unwinnable is that it puts games alongside film, books and more, all as equally valid mediums in conversation with each other. Ive already discovered several new gems since subscribing last month
Oh, it's a new year? Well lemme tell you something: the Unwinnable Year-End Subscription Special only ends when I say it does. So pretend it is still 2025 and grab those 24 issues for 5 bucks. unwinnable.com/subscribe/ @unwinnable.com
