I'm Daniel, an Omnigamer and amatuer cook who loves to explore new ways of thematic expression in games, especially through the shared experience of food.
My feast content is on hiatus while I explore new options, but you can find me as cohost on @omnigamers.bsky.social
Thursday night is usually for picking at solo tabletop stuff but I've had zero attention span lately. Found a Micro Macro jigsaw at the library which is about my speed I can handle right now.

I may delete this because it’s a bit spicy but it shouldn’t be lost on us that games being turned into TV is essentially harvesting the stories written by those who don’t have union representation or healthcare with WGA by those that do. Our stories are good enough for TV but the writers aren’t?

It really sucks that Microsoft sunk its claws into so much of the game industry and is attached to a ton of games I wanna play.

What sucks even more is supporting genocide, which is something Microsoft loves doing. I’m very in favor of Microsoft fucking off until it stops loving genocide so much.
Anyway, Microsoft's gaming products are subject to a boycott from the BDS movement, due to Microsoft's ongoing support for the IDF. Bethesda is owned by Microsoft.

No Games For Genocide
The games industry is complicit in genocide. It’s time to divest.

I was twice her age and still cowering from these freaks. Just keep running till daylight and don't look behind you.
My daughter got caught in Hyrule field at night and didn't even blink when the skeletons appeared. "They're easy". Absolutely fearless. She didn't even misclick once when the owl asked if he should repeat himself.

At our wedding, we wanted to incorporate one of the things that is very close to our heart - board games. While we didn't get to play ourselves until later that night, we were delighted to see new friendships being formed in front of our eyes.

A rare 5 player game night so finally tabled Brian Boru - area control by way of Trick Taking. Excellent improvised strategy as you try to thread multiple needles simultaneously.

It's a difficult situation to discover that one of your friends and collaborators has shit views about immigrants. But this is certainly a much better way of addressing it and just further puts Dice Tower to shame.

Big tech has trained us over the last couple decades to expect everything for free and now we're all paying the price on their terms.
How do you fix journalism?

Fucking pay for it.

Stop complaining about paywalls and subscribe.

The rise of right-wing media is because the rich funded it. The fall of legacy media is because the rich funded it and then decided not to.

I take no joy in skewering an indie game with a lot of heart but I was left confused by the chorus of reviews calling this the next coming of Mario. Big Hops creates a sandbox of fun traversal tools then buries them in linear level design, inventory restrictions and unreliable physics.
We’re jumping into 2026 with our first new game of the year, both comparing our thoughts on 3D platformer Big Hops and how it mixes up the genre by tools and tongue. Plus reading recommendations of game blogs and more.

So they've stolen everyone's art for their slop machine and now holding it hostage for anyone else to see it. Tech companies are driving for a future where making art is a privilege and viewing art is a luxury between submerging yourself in a feed bag of algorithmic hallucinations.
I just got this notification from this trial Meta is conducting. For art to be seen, fees are required. No more likes because your work is interesting to ppl, it is all just paid access to huge audiences. And these are just starting fees, they go up after a month. 👎😬😭

Oh hey. It's me. I'm back. I wanted to talk to all the devs who took the war chest from their popular games (and YouTube careers!) and turned it into a publishing studio to find out what they're doing differently and if its working out for them.
Turns out...yeah seems like its going good!

Wrapped Mio and it really is a lovely take on the genre albeit with some dogged commitment to certain tropes and difficulty. But it's broadly more rhythmic than sweaty in it's challenge, between moments of quiet contemplation and graceful movement between epic vistas
