The only way AI grifters can soothe their conscience is convincing themselves that everyone is doing it, that it's inevitable and irreversible. Never let them forget that it's a choice.

We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

A weekend of playtesting at @protocon-bc.bsky.social has me thinking about how to be a good playtester and I'm workshopping some ideas for next year. What are your tips for how to be helpful and constructive as a playtester?

My daughter has come down with serious Pokemon fever over the last week, mostly via the Horizons anime, which means she's about to be due for a hard lesson in anime localization.

Goodnight Universe is out now. Absolutely feasting on Indie Games this month.
Getting a lot of boss baby vibes from this demo.

I missed a chance to play it at the full indie summit, but this thing pulls so many magic tricks. Play as a psychic baby, controlling the game with your face via the webcam (though I'm not sure it's prepared for my cat).

Hades 2 continues to not entirely click for me. Part of that is just the over-abundance of systems and over-indulgence in length of runs. But this picks at another niggling peeve in the irreverent marvelization of culture.

I cannot deny that Hades 2 is an incredibly crafted game but my growing exhaustion with rogue-lites aside, I can't shake the sense that the characters have all the depth of a Coffee Shop AU, gods showing up to present your order of boon with a snappy one liner
Our latest episode has landed.
This week we’re joined by @dnlnwmn.bsky.social to talk about his work with New Mill Industries and experiences at the Tokyo Game Market. Then we descend into a discussion of Hades 2 and put our thoughts to rest.

For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

One of the games at @protocon-bc.bsky.social is designed by an 11 year old! Made sure to bring my daughter in time to playtest it, both to let her see the process and to show support. It's so fantastic to see such a diverse crowd.

If you're not already organizing in your city's efforts to protect your neighbors, do so right now.

Masked Secret police are kidnapping our neighbors every day. Even and especially if you don't hear about it on the news, it's happening.

Join your local neighborhood patrol or response group.

Additional tips:
- if your eyes glaze over the entire thing without locking in on any particular detail (helpful for AI since the details are the weakest point)
- Text is garbled, especially the distant smaller ones
- patterns morph into each other unnaturally when viewed up close
Some quick tips for spotting gAI slop:
- if the hands don't make sense
- they still have problems with faces, eye directions are often a good tell
- if the light source is one colour but the light is another (eg: the window has a blue sky, but everything inside is red
