I don't know what's more arcane, the naming/numbering system for the various seasons and spinoffs, or the fact that they're all split over 20 different streaming platforms. Honestly shocked Nintendo hasn't got a dedicated paid streaming platform.

Ragamuffin cupcakes from Kim-Joy's Bake Me A Cat. Schools out for a couple days in a row so told the kid to pick whatever she wants to bake together.

Daughter is asking when the next game jam is and already iterating on her design from yesterdays

The game jam in under way and I've finally wrangled the kids imagination into something cohesive.

@protocon-bc.bsky.social has me thinking about my design that I haven't touched for a few years. Feeling inspired and had some great ideas I'm keen to test.

Signed up to my first game jam in 5 years. Going to try and convince my daughter to join me for a team submission.

My last board game Kickstarter for some time (excluding one that I'll likely never see). Love the core system of Keystone, especially the solo journal, now with stickers!

Wrapped Final Fantasy 2 (Pixel Remaster) and it really is a huge step up from the first game in representing what the series would become - a strong sense of place, character and narrative. It's also an Elder Scrolls game?

Continuing to thoroughly enjoy this. Procedurally generated simple puzzles akin to Steamworld Dig but with enough restrictions of time and efficiency to really put the pressure on extracting every bit of value...and still rapidly fall into debt. Some real sharp moments of satire

Diggergun knows what's up!

We all know about Gandalf's white phase but few know about his goth phase

Fate of the Fellowship has a rich sense of dynamism from it's many points of variance (characters, quests, darkness cards) that give a strong sense of simulation. But every character feels so restrictive/specialised to the point of any strategy feeling completely prescriptive.

Friend brought Fate of the Fellowship but didn't feel like teaching so we've turned to the tower of Rod Ney

The true test of a potential new work place - how's the local sushi joint (excellent!)

Found a cafe selling basque cheesecake and pumping lounge jazz covers of Ghibli music, taking this as a good sign.

Office is right next to this park where I have vivid memories as a key gym location when Pokemon Go came out and I was temping nearby.

Job interview today which means another day of making excuses to treat myself.

Made the mistake of making eye contact with this goblin creature right before going live on the podcast and in that moment created an extra 20 minutes of work editing out it hassling me for the entirely of the show.
November 4, 2025 at 5:36 AM
Wrapped several games in the last few days, what should I scratch off the backlog next? You have till I finish editing this podcast!

Continuing to explore co-op options with the kid and she wanted to try Animal Crossing but trying to decipher the arcane rules of Island/account/resident differentiation is doing my head in, especially when most details are pre-virtual cards
