Hello to all the new followers here! I'm Arwen (she/her) and I run the Cardboard Time podcast where I talk about Board Games and conduct interviews. (I'm also known by some for my shelf of aspiration). I thought I'd do a little starter pack for those unfamiliar with my work!

I prefer my Azul without the extra steps.

Regular Azul is a fantastic game and one of the rare games that scales super well between 2 players and more than 2 players.
Azul Duel did not need to exist. They took a clean, streamlined game, and added...stuff?

“Unbiased” board game reviews are the last ones to be trusted. Everyone has biases. Far more trustworthy are reviews that acknowledge their influence and bias. It indicates a level of awareness, honesty, and ability to contextualize that hints at more thoughtful and meaningful analysis and review.

I've found a summary statement with new folks of "Please be careful with the food and bev around the table" works absolute wonders.
Do you wanna get a bunch of games out instead of just 1 or 2? Treat people like humans and they'll stay longer.

Board games can take it. Just mop things up with a paper towel and everything will be a OK.

Gee, it would have been nice to get to Dice Tower East to sit and talk with Sam around a board game but it's illegal for me to pee in public bathrooms in Florida 🤷♀️.

France’s highest-profile board game prize, the As d’Or, has updated its rules for 2026 to ensure that artist names must appear on a game box in order for designs to be eligible for the award:

The beauty of our form of joy (board games) is that they can also be used as a central backdrop for building community, networks, support, and empathy...all things that are useful in dealing with the world around us right now.

This comes as absolutely zero surprise.
Sam Healey once again failing a basic character test. He's an absolute millstone around the Dice Towers neck. I wonder if Tom will actually say anything about this or just keep pretending that politics don't matter in the USA these days.

Today's 6 years. Still no regrets even though I'm now an enemy of the state.
