I haven't done nearly as much game design work recently, because I have been working on becoming a game publisher! Starting with a co-design of mine that I really believe in, but hoping to move beyond that if it goes well 😀

Please come along on this journey with me - we all need good diversions!
I am pleased to announce that Necessary Diversion Games' first offering will be 'Snacksquatch' where adventurous kids use sugary sweets to catch cryptid kids! A face-down bidding game where giving too much sugar to a monster will get the highest bidder swatted away. Here's a preview of kid Nessie!
The Original Hot Dog Shop (aka The 'O') in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood. In the middle of Pitt's campus, it's where the college kids went for greasy food. Burgers, chili dogs, and such were surprisingly solid, but the real reason you went there was for the massive amount of fries in a 'small'

Upper Deck has announced that they have acquired the Harry Potter license for a series of trading cards. They have not yet said that they will be using this license for games, and we urge them to refrain from doing so, to help keep gaming a welcoming environment.
The leadership of the Tabletop Game Designers Association was disappointed to see the publisher CGE touting Codenames: Back to Hogwarts, a new Harry Potter-themed version of Codenames.

Post the first game you actually completed!

It's gotta be Adventure, which would be the first game I played that had a clear ending. Maybe pitfall 2 but pretty sure I played Adventure first

At a time where a lot of the American population shares Jackson's Lord of the Rings as a cultural touchstone, it is a massive shame that 'The Scouring of The Shire' epilogue didn't make the cut. Minor characters buckling down, organizing, and kicking fascist ass with no magic or heroes is relevant!

Watched the first episode of Starfleet Academy. I suspect it will be the episode with the least amount of pretty young people posturing and flirting, and the most Paul Giamatti chewing scenery. So by that metric pretty good. Will try another

My favorite aspect of K Pop Demon Hunters is that the wise older mentor figure is just wrong.

She is not secretly evil, she genuinely cares for the heroes, and means well - but she's set in an outmoded mindset which causes her to be catastrophically wrong.

This is a post about Hakeem Jeffries.

Upper Deck can get bent. There is no reason in 2026 to go anywhere near the wizard shit license. You cannot claim ignorance. You cannot be silent.
We are calling for an immediate stop to all purchases from Upper Deck.

Their total lack of communication is distressing—so we call upon everyone to help us escalate.

No purchases from Upper Deck. No media coverage or posts of their games.

Upper Deck will only respond when it hurts their wallets.
YIKES.

Upper Deck (Marvel Legendary) just announced a CCG using the Harry Potter license.

Fans of UD are rallying against this decision. Like the CGE situation last year, I’m asking for your help.

That feeling when a few people can't make it Blood on the Clocktower group, so you invite a few others. Next time a few others can't make it so you invite a few more. They bring plus ones. Then suddenly a few people, a few others, a few more, and plus ones can all make it at the same time...

Saint Paul schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare for optional online learning.

I’ve seen schools close for snow, for pandemic, for natural disaster. I’ve never seen schools close because of threat from our own government.

What I hate most about gen Ai is how it takes away the effort. When I saw art before, I knew that even if it shitty and bad, i could tell that there was someone who worked hard to make it happen. It’s why shit like The Room got popular, because you could see the earnest effort on display.

Got to actively not pick a Hilton-owned hotel today, and explained in the Upper Deck discord using my most imperious self-important white dude tone the paradox of tolerance and that under capitalism, your money is your speech.

And Target still sucks.

Something that really frustrates me when games like this crop up is that their defenders almost always jump to a generic "history is harsh, historical games tackle tough subjects" defense.

I already said I don't think topics are always off limits in my second post.

That's not what this is about.
While I love my niche stupid hobby of historical board gaming, sometimes it does just make me want to scream. Take the latest example, a board game about the Irish Potato Famine where you get to compete with friends to see who survives best (?)

Okay. I need a boost here.

Looking for artists.

We're talking about some potential comic book style art and/or concept art for the #iHunt film. We're privately funding development, so budget isn't Hollywood.

I want queer and/or nonwhite artists. I want cool styles.
