Back on my list of albums to listen to from last year that I haven't yet got around to. Another one of those I wish I'd heard sooner, BANG by Iona Zajac: ionazajac.bandcamp.com/album/bang-2

Just wonderful. Made my morning. Kinda wish I’d been there.
Good morning. I’m so glad that someone (thank you Jane B) had the presence of mind to capture this. It’s a glorious impromptu version of What Goes On performed last Saturday at The Betsey Trotwood by European Sun and Jamie Perrett.

Article in the Observer from Gareth David, lead singer of Los Campesinos, which I think presents a much more nuanced view of the music industry as it currently stands: observer.co.uk/news/opinion...

Making a stencil. For no other reason than I fancied making something and this struck me a silly enough idea that I'd do it, and I get to wield a sharp instrument with the high likelihood that I'll do myself some damage.

Super sad news about Greg Brown, who not only made Cake such an ace band but also played on Friendship Is Deep.

Sending hugs to the @goldenshoulders.bsky.social crew and my deepest sympathies to his friends and family.

Morning. Post office run first up.

Also woke to someone having suggested an Unspun stall for the Indie Label Market. If that was your suggestion, thank you!

Re-upping for the evening crew. The discount code will work for another 5 hours or so.

Even if you don’t buy from me, there are so many great bands/artists who would benefit from your purchases and listens. Go seek them out.

Those who have bought, thanks so much. I’ll ship parcels tomorrow.
I don’t have new things to sell on #BandcampFriday but I can add badges and sweets left over from last year’s The Felt Tips gigs to any orders of their album.

And there’s a rumour* that the code ‘omg15’ reduces prices down to the same as those that early supporters paid.

Packing some orders now I'm home. I have a headache, but sticking DYMO tape on album sleeves and writing notes to buyers makes it all good.

I have Jetstream Pony on in the background, too. Soothing me.

UPDATE: I have located one set of inserts (lyrics and liner notes) and two riso prints. You decide which you’d prefer. When I’m not on a bus I’ll update the listing.

Before Tyler, The Creator, the winners of the Grammy for Best Album Cover Art existed. It began back in 1959, as this article explains: theartofcoverart.substack.com/p/the-artist...

And a write up of why it's been on hiatus and more here: www.itsnicethat.com/features/who...

Happy #BandcampFriday to all who celebrate.

Treat yourself to some music from your fave indie artists and bands and labels. There’s loads to choose from. Or leave a review to say you loved listening to it. And tell all your friends.
I'd like to recommend the following for #BandcampFriday

goldenshoulders.bandcamp.com
stephensimmons.bandcamp.com
daveywoodward.bandcamp.com
thefelttips.bandcamp.com

All the above, I can confirm, are the most excellent humans with great music available and they would love your support tomorrow.

I'm getting three PROMO vinyl copies of The Tracksuit Trilogy LP ready to go up for sale. It's the record in a sleeve only. No inserts or poster or fabric bag and download code, and no zine.

I have stuck a DYMO label on saying "P R O M O" in case that isn't clear.

Found some stickers in a box. No idea what album they’re for. I guess three of you can find out, and get a free album while you’re at it.

Some good crate digging done today. Also, was introduced to Shaking Hand, a Manchester band who I described as a dream pop Foals. Got that early naughts vibe: shakinghandband.bandcamp.com/album/shakin...

Pairs well with the new Whitelands album, which I’m also enjoying.

Enjoying this lo-fi indiepop from California, which came out in 2024. Zack Burba is quite prolific and has an extensive back catalogue.

After buying his second album on vinyl, I went back to his Ninja Tunes debut and learned it's CD and digital only. So I wrote about why I think it deserves your attention. Jono McCleery's There Is from 2011: unspunheroes.com/2026/01/29/t...

I always enjoy it when a label that’s known for a very specific type of music veers into what, for them, might be considered leftfield, perhaps even the avant garde. Warp did so with the late Nick …

Thanks to @state-of-sound-mag.bsky.social for asking me about micro labels and the reason we do what we do. Here’s me and others like @hiddenbayrec.bsky.social saying some things and generally agreeing it’s ace to do for many reasons: www.stateofsoundmagazine.com/an-outpourin...
