I remember breaking down crying after our first foster’s family came to pick him up—we were very close to “foster failing” because he was such a sweetie and got on really well with our other cats. It definitely got easier to let later fosters go after this first little guy.

Well it was an amazing World Series and a reminder that baseball despite its faults is probably the greatest sport invented by man, and also I hope all Dodgers fans are stricken with painful sores and tumors, and cast into hellfire, for eternity

out here in the sticks -

where we are used to finding out the hard way that our friendly neighbors voted for people who are trying to get us killed -

it means a lot to go outside and see people we know on the street hollering in support of democracy and immigration and healthcare and LGBTQ rights
Can I ask, what did the No Kings protest actually accomplish? I mean, in real terms, what have these protests materially changed? I can't help but feel these one off protests are merely a heatsink for energy and anger rather than a path for meaningful change and disruption of the system.

Me, whispering to my date as we watch this story retold years later at the bunraku: that’s Nobunaga
me: ugh god you know how you make plans for friday night but then friday night gets there and you don't want to do it and it feels sooooooo good to cancel?

my liege lord Daimyō Nobunaga (unsheathing katana): even a dog understands loyalty. She whose word is not bond does not deserve to live

I can’t recommend revisiting Girl Talk in your 30s, sober, and during the daytime. Turns out it is strictly nighttime music for drunken teens.

I throw my hat on the ground and stomp it and shake my fist at the TV every time I see Ohtani
Philly booing Ohtani cmon man. He's not a Dodger he's our national baseball Folk Hero. He is for everyone. He loves dogs and hits balls 500 ft and throws the ball 100 mph.

Got to experience one of my favorite annual traditions today: taking down the AC for the summer and spending ten minutes contentedly staring out of a window I haven’t gotten to use in several months :)

I’m in SF for an event and I had a visceral negative reaction to seeing Waymo’s everywhere. Literally uncanny!

It’s good that they aren’t speeding or passing too close, at least.
I was a self-driving skeptic for a long time because I associated it with Tesla's scammy and illegal approach to the tech, but now I'm a convert. Biking and walking around San Francisco, I find sharing the streets with Waymos to be *much* safer than sharing them with many human drivers.
100 years from now when transportation is fully autonomous, people aren’t gonna believe we used to drive ourselves around

“So people just had to get really good at driving so no one died in crashes?”

“Oh, people died all the time. There were actually more car deaths than murders every year.”
